United only used the wages to lure him because they saw it was obvious he wanted to join City. And why is it that when a player has been top class in a certain team, then he moved to a different team and struggled due to whatever reasons, people are so quick to think the has always been sh*t? Similar comments I have heard about Coutinho, now its Sanchez. Someone will soon come up with how terrible he was throughout his time at Arsenal! Pathetic! What about all the other players and the reasons they didn't join us? Or are you ignoring that bit?
May 24, 20197 yr What about all the other players and the reasons they didn't join us? Or are you ignoring that bit?I didn't ignore it, I later answered it in my response to @Bisright. But don't worry, I will come again. Brozovic and Naingollan, you said they never wanted to leave Serie A! That's really funny isn't it. You know what, if Juventus weren't desperate to sign C Ronaldo, he will still be playing for Real Madrid right now. Juventus knew he was having some issues with the Madrid board and despite that they still showed there desperation by bringing out the cash to convince him to join them. If they were reluctant and couldn't agree to maybe pay his wages, the deal never would have happened and at the end of the day you would have thought 'Oh, the deal didn't materialize don't want to leave La liga due to the rivalry between Madrid and Barcelona or between Ronaldo and Messi'. Pathetic! Isn't it? The point is, all those players Conte wanted us to sign but we missed out on were due to the fact that our board were reluctant to invest in the team. And I feel if Conte never won the league in his first season but he simply kept us in the top 4, like maybe we finished 3rd or 4th on the table, our board would want an improvement in his second season so they definitely would have spend the cash in his second season and sign players that fits his pattern of play. And in turn, they will likely set a target for him to win the league or the champions league.

Its not all about money, christ Naingollan says as much in this interview: https://talksport.com/football/357762/chelsea-fc-news-radja-nainggolan-reveals-reason-he-turned-down-blues-two-years-ago/ Why do you have this entitled opinion that we can sign any player or have an infinite amount of money to attract anyone? If a player doesn't want to come we can't force them. If its money a player wants, they go to Manchester or PSG, if its titles its Barca or Real. Fact is there are more attracting clubs than us these days.

June 4, 20197 yr I wouldn't be surprised if Conte won the title with Inter next season but after he's done it start moaning because Inter aren't breaking FFP rules signing the best players in the position's he wants reinforcements. He's a fantastic manager for a team looking to climb to the top of a mountain, not so great when it comes to maintaining such a position.
June 4, 20197 yr Conte is one of the best managers around. Inter will truly challenge Sarri's Juventus. ?

June 21, 20197 yr Going to keep a close eye on the Serie A this season with three former Chelsea managers coaching top clubs over there. Hope Antonio comes out at top

June 21, 20197 yr ^ Ranieri was only coaching Roma until the end of the season. He's currently without a club.

I think it will be the first time I will be following the Italian league. It should be fun. Conte is a fantastic coach and seems like Inter will be backing him.
July 20, 20196 yr https://www.football-italia.net/140988/conte-inter-need-start-selling Looks like the mask is slipping earlier than usual this time.
July 20, 20196 yr can this thread be moved to the Other Teams Forum? Don't be me wrong, I liked what Don Antonio did with the club but that ship has totally sailed out of the harbor & reached another destination.
July 20, 20196 yr Why don't the Mods just close it? coco lozWhy? Should we close Hazard, Dixon, Osgood and Robert Fleck threads too?

Though we could at least change the thread name to Antonio Conte Former Chelsea Manager.
