Conte's great when things are going well but clearly he turns very sour when things aren't. The club got Lukaku and Sanchez in so it's hard to criticise their transfer policy, publicly saying some of their new players are of a lower standard because they came from lower level clubs is not going to help their confidence is it?

Well, he's always been a loser in European tournaments. I remember him leading Juventus in the group stage the year before Alegri took the to the final... they got eliminated by Galatasaray.

Scary thing is if he was fluent in English I genuinely believe his behaviour in the last six months would have been ten times worse.

I hate when managers say stuff like this about the players, what does this do for their confidence? Really glad we parted ways. 

He's a loose cannon, but there's no denying he's a great manager and thinker of the game.

His overt passion and hot headed nature is both his biggest strength and biggest weakness.

Don Antonio might not make it 2 years

This is the same behaviour we got in his last season I was backing him at the start of that season but by December I wanted him gone.

This is why he had to go, he never seems to learn. A brilliant manager when he focuses on the game, but a nightmare manager when things go slightly wrong. 

How has he not learnt that saying this kind of thing is only going to lead to his team losing more games and the players losing more confidence in themselves? If your manager keeps saying to the media that you're not good, then eventually it takes its toll.

Also, he has only been in the job a few months, he needs to have a bit of patience. What does he expect, to be competing with the best after a few months in the job? It's like he doesn't want to put the work in to build a team, he's chasing instant success and it's just not realistic.

What makes it all the more mind-blowing is he's excellent at getting average teams punching. You can somewhat understand this behaviour from managers who rely on a chequebook but he's a manager that's even had the likes of Moses and Giaccherrini looking like top players.

I don' think Moses ever looked a top player yet could defend reasonably well and his electric pace would turn the other team to looking forward to racing backwards and even though he couldn't cross a sideways pass would keep us in their area.

Brilliant manager with 2 fingers on the self destruct button all the time. There are very few clubs who let the manager takes control of transfers without limit

that season Conte won the league with us Moses was absolutely a top player, he was one of the reasons we were able to win the league that year

I've been a lurker on this forum for years, I remember people even supporting AVB even before and after he was sacked, same with Carlo, same with Di Matteo, same with Mourinho. But with Conte I've never seen the forum turn on a manager so fast, that was because of how toxic he was to the press. During his second season he did nothing but put the club and players down week after week, always the usual comments "we are doing our best, we just aren't good enough", it got so bad that many people believed he was sabotaging the club on purpose just to prove a point. And it actually looked likely, if you watch the City game it was disgusting, he tried to defend a 1-0 loss against City because he thought he we weren't good enough to get a draw. 

His comments at Inter have now confirmed that he was mostly the problem.

I think that was the issue was to most (although there was many board didn't back him so he has no responsibility for poor results crowd still loud and proud, remember @brakeit ?), for all the others were doing wrong coming to the end they were still committed to the job which got them some goodwill.Conte was taking the piss out of the fanbase, especially the ones who travelled to City which for me was the most humiliating match as a Chelsea fan, when Silva and Gundogan were playing about with it in the middle third under no pressure at 1-0 that was the moment i wanted him gone.

I also argued against you on that, I was more on Conte's side than the board, however, I didn't like the way Conte was going about things and that City match really put me off, that was worse than the Watford and Bournemouth results even. I've seen Jose take the piss on away games where he's went there for a 0-0 draw but I've never seen a performance where our manager sets us up to lose but not by too many.

It wasn't about sides for me, had Conte got the absolute best out of what he had i'd have had no criticism of him and would have defended him against any. The way Lampard is improvising and making use of a sh*t hand shows that there were resources for Conte if he thought outside the box a bit, for all the talk of how unstable we are for manager's we are actually a dream for someone to build a sustainable project given the strength of our academy and the money we spend in the market. Give Lampard the £200m Conte got in 2017 to add to the players we've promoted and we'd be set at the top for many years.

Agree but that's not a given, Lampard so far looks like a really good coach. I hated this appointment, I won't deny it either, I was very outspoken that we've hurt his development as a manager and this could really set him back (It still can if we're being honest). But it seems like he was the best man for the job given the circumstances, it's probably the best time Lampard could've gotten the job. 

I'm confident he's here next season, so then we'll see how he does with the transfer market. When you're handling ego's and walking into a side full of a top class players it's completely different. What Lampard did certainly wasn't easier but it was different, I think if Lampard walked into this side with the expectations to win the league, no transfer ban, Hazard still here, it would've been different and harder for him. 

I could be wrong there, but I think him bringing in so many youth players who have massive respect for him benefits him tremendously, and it's something people like Jose or Conte certainly wouldn't have achieved, definitely Jose. We shall see where it goes from here on out, I hope he buys the right players and sticks with the foundation that we've already built here. I think an Alonso replacement and a replacement for Willian/Pedro is the wise choice at the moment, and depending on how good Zouma is this season, we could be looking at a new CB.
