Why? Should we close Hazard, Dixon, Osgood and Robert Fleck threads too?

Looks like the mask is slipping earlier than usual this time.

Not really a mask though is it, Conte’s always been a prickly character and gets frustrated by transfer activity because presumably it’s out of his control.

If he was told he could have a new striker because the club intended to get rid of Icardi but he’s not close to being sold you’d be annoyed.

Difference with Conte is that he doesn’t put on a show for the media. If he’s unhappy then he says it.

His passion and emotional extremes are both his biggest strength and biggest weakness as a coach.

Yeah Inter have known for how long they wanted Icardi to leave? It’s not a simple transfer by any means but they aren’t half pissing about. I’m jealous they got Barella though he seems like a tidy little player.

Despite all his foibles and eccentricities, I'm still fascinated by Conte – the character behind the mask – and this brief interview with Emanuele Giaccherini for Corriere dello Sport is my current favourite.

Former Juventus winger Emanuele Giaccherini gave an insight into Antonio Conte’s training methods and why he believes they can transform Inter. “He bleeds you dry.”

“When I read Conte was coming to Inter, I thought they’ve found the right person to take them back to the top.

"Conte is a winner who lifted trophies both in Italy and abroad. He can bring a winning mentality to those who haven’t found it yet.

“I can testify with confidence that Conte’s training sessions are shocking. I experienced them both at Juve and on international duty, especially when preparing for the Euros, and I can assure you in the afternoon I just wanted to collapse on to a couch and watch TV.

“Conte bleeds you dry, because it’s the work on the training ground that he builds his success on. His watchwords are culture of hard work, sacrifice, hunger and fighting spirit.

“Juve remain the favourites for the Scudetto and Inter might not manage to bridge the gap straight away, but they will be one of the favourites with Conte in charge.”

Frank Leboeuf dropping truth bombs about Don Antonio

Yeah was really boring when we won the league at a canter, and followed that up with winning the FA Cup.

I get the second season was poor and boring at times but people seem to forget how well we played in the first season when we won the league, and how easily we ended up winning it too.

Yeah I loved Conte’s first season with us. Full of passion and momentum. It’s a shame that he’s abit like Jose in that he burns people and the club out. It’s not sustainable over a long period.

When motivated, he’s a world class manager.

Still think he is a very very good coach. I think the issue was the 2nd season he didn’t get the clear backing with recruitment.

his first season was great I loved the passion he brought.

Apart from Drinkwater all the signings were clearly his.

The market is a big Achilles heel for him, he should have had no say in transfers while with us.

The same thing happened to him at Juve - he started to complain about the squad at Juve that after he left made it to the UCL Final under Allegri

I thought we were more boring under Sarri than we were under Conte personally.

The first season we played really entertaining football, 2nd season it turned into a disaster, Conte moaning all the time in the press, the signings were the worst signings we've ever made in a season ever, just utterly dreadful, but he did win us an F.A. Cup that season.

Boring is not the right word to use. Conte's faults were certainly similar to Jose's though, and even Sarri afterwards, overworking the team, not rotating enough and playing the same players over and over again regardless of bad form. Conte's moaning in the 2nd season definitely hurt him, I've never seen so many people on this forum turn on a manager before, we stuck by Jose and many others when they had it difficult, but Conte really turned a lot of fans on here with his comments. He went from being so happy in the first season, celebrating like a mad man, jumping into the crowd, to being a depressed loser in the 2nd.

I thought he contradicted himself though.

I remember how in the first season he was crying about depth and not having enough backup players. After we signed a lot of players in the summer from winning the league, he started to moan about how we signed too many players and what you need is 2-3 world class players that you can work with instead.

He got annoying in that 2nd season, and I stuck by him because I thought it was the board, maybe it still was, a bit of both. But considering the singings he's made at Inter and the way he's behaving, it kind of solidifies that it was him all along, especially when we were in the market for Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch.

Apparently the Drinkwater signing was also his, he spoke highly of the Kante-Drinkwater midfield before he came to Chelsea, but knew he could only get one of them so he got Kante, then afterwards he managed to get Drinkwater.

I saw a few pundits pick that out, comments he made before Chelsea. However, he did used to sit Danny out an awful lot for him to be one of his own so I don't know for sure. What was weird about the Drinkwater signing is that Conte would only ever play him in the big games.

This could definitely be argued. However, the intent under Sarri was always to play like a big team, which in my opinion Conte never had. We couldn't do it under Sarri, maybe he tried changing too many things too fast without the correct personnel, but he stuck to his principles no matter the opponent. I believe we are reaping the benefits of having a squad that's used to play possession, play out from the back at all times football right now, not to mention the inclusion of Loftus Cheek and Hudson Odoi, albeit maybe too late, in the squad.

We've grown over the years. Mourinho came and and implemented a siege mentality, us against them, backs against the wall and all that, but the modern way of football is to have the dominant teams dominate in a much greater extent than ten years ago. We aren't the underdogs anymore, and it's about time we acted like what we are, one of the premier clubs in Europe.

For that, I think Sarri was the right appointment and I also think he did a great job. He kickstarted the project Lampard is now fine tuning. At the end of the day, both Sarri and us made an upgrade.

Conte, since we are in his thread, is a terrific coach when things are going his way. He also has one of the most skewed moral compasses in football. Him taking over Inter is like Terry accepting a job at Tottenham. I don't care if it was a good opportunity for him, as I wouldn't if Terry took over Spurs; both would be dead to me.

already complaining about the squad strength at Inter

And it begins, hes basically an Italian Rafa Benitez who does this to have the fans on his side when the sh*t hits the fan.
