did the club actually offered him an extension or this was just the renegotiation after winning the league, i haven't read anywhere that he refused to sign an extension.

i think it makes sense to not sign a long term contract specially for the club given our history and they would be liable for more money if they fire him

Rumour is he was going to walk after winning the league, changed his mind & signed an extension. This was signed in July a month before this season started. Can’t really blame the board for being cautious in their approach to signings.

Don't really see why the board would give him more money and no contract extension unless he was threatening to leave. Especially when he signed a short contract anyway.

having better communication and being on the same page surely does help

If Roman is looking at going in a new direction, which seems to be the case. It would seem this summer is the best time to find the correct coach to do this. The coaches who suit this mould and are available are Luis Enrique, Leonardo Jardim, Maurizio Sarri. The former asking for too much money may be out the picture, leaving Jardim and Sarri. Both it seems would suit what the club would want. You either have the innovative, entertaining style of Sarri, or Jardim who would more than likely focus a little more on young players yet still play a good style of football.

Moreover, whats going to change next summer? We are still going to try to break even, not spend over the top (or rather net spend), plus without CL we may be unable to attract the players we normally do and take for granted. So he is not going to stop moaning, his in-game management is not going to become pro-active all of a sudden. Most of the problems will stay as such.

that is a vague argument, nobody knows what was going on behind the scene or for how long

and wouldn't it be better for him to sign a longer contract so he could be paid more when he was trying to get fired as many people claim here

What an absolute idiotic and clusterf**k of a decision to make. 2 games to go in a rotten season and you don't step out with your best team.

His decisions have been nothing short of shocking at several points in the season  and any manager getting the sack on the basis of such decisions sure deserve it.

Shambolic behaviour and absolutely sabotaged the season.

I would scream out of love for him last season. Now I'm just emotionless as he has absolutely drained out the passion in team and me.

Mistakes must be accepted, I still believe that he deserves another chance with us, next season when he will build his team with his players.

But today's decision is making me crazy. So important game, we are fighting for our CL spot, Conte decides to rest Hazard, Courtois, Moses, even Bakayoko who was excellent against Liverpool, Giroud. And kept playing with poor players like Fabregas, Pedro, Morata, Zappacosta. 

Just one question, why?
