Unfortunately not, and it should not be our objective. We should focus on the cups instead, and after that focus on giving the younger players more experience.

We'd have to have a surge that would is normally only done by title contenders. Are we capable? Too right we are. In the end though the draws against West Brom and Watford could prove decisive.

It's possible but I'd be surprised. We've been on a decent run but I'm not convinced we're that good of a team yet especially if we play a form team. Stoke aren't too tough but after that we've got West Ham in the league, then there's a few relegation-threatened teams and three of the top four teams. That's not an easy last 10 games.

The Europa League is definitely on though.

Win our last 10 games and that would get it done I reckon

What a shame that Roman didn't fire JM a bit earlier!

That's a surprising thing to read in a place like this.

You could also say that if the board had spent some money this year (more than £9 million) then we'd have absolutely walked this league. It's not just Arsenal who have thrown away a golden opportunity - In May last year we could have absolutely gone on to retain this title.

Now it's going to end up in Leicester of all bloody places.

There's a few reasons but given how much better we've played since Jose wet I think it's a valid statement.

It's possible, but i can't see it. We need to win all of our games and have all of the teams above us dropping points on a regular basis. It's more likely that one of United or West Ham will take that top 4 spot.

It may be valid, I'm just surprised someone would say it's a shame the greatest manager in our history wasn't sacked sooner when so many things went wrong this year.

The board spent £9 million WEAKENING the squad this year. Maybe if they'd spent as much as Palace or Leicester and strengthened it then we'd have retained our title. In terms of missed opportunities, spending less than the difference between the Samsung and Yokohama deals on transfers is right up there.

Am not sure we will overhaul the current sixth place side West Ham. 7 points seems a lot, our remaining league fixtures are hardly all against Arsenal...

Stoke (H)

Liverpool (A)

West Ham (H)

Aston Villa (A)

Swansea (A)

Man City (H)

Bournemouth (A)

Spurs (H)

Sunderland (A)

Leicester (H)

Will see where we are after the West Ham game.

The other issue for top six finish is whether we (hopefully) go further in champions league and fa cup...in 2012 we focussed on cups to the detriment of the Lge and one suspects that would happen again, and I certainly can't see this team winning the European cup

If Guss had been here from the beginning of the season, we will be top of the table right now even with this weak team. Unlike José he is willing to rotate players and make fight for their place. Even if José was still here am very certain Traore would have joined Vitesse in January and we still won't know how good he is.

It's possible but I'm not sure. Guus has does well but the calculations people use to say we'd have such and such points are based on a small sample size. Let's actually look at those games and what people are basing their assumptions on.

Guus has played FIVE games at home. He's won ONE. Of 15 potential points, he's got 7. In those 5 games, he's conceded 9 goals.

Away he's played SIX games. He's won FOUR. Of 18 points he's got 12.

That's what we're drawing conclusions from, but we all know that no team has won the league with such a poor home record and such a great away one so immediately you have to question the sums people are doing.

That's why it's impossible to say with any degree of certainty that he would've won the league had he been here from the start, because it's a completely different task to the one he's been given. Plus there's lower pressure now, the difficulty of the opponent might vary etc. You might be right but I'm not so sure.

As long as we beat Spurs to make sure they dont win the title then ill be happy*

* happy is a relative term, and in the context of this season happy is not what it used to be

You simply don't know that for sure.

It's all fine and well making up situations in your head but it's not reality.
