April 9, 201610 yr I thought Fabregas passing looked really lazy to be honest. A lot of misplaced and slow passes. Not a single one was played through their defence. His game today summed up our season, not enough drive. We just don't force things to happen. I wouldn't describe him as lazy. He was busy just didn't have the cut through. Didn't get a lot of creative support either. No real movement or interchanging positions at all. We passed around them in a U movement. Need to be a bit cleverer than that.

April 9, 201610 yr Feel a bit sick, must be listening to these players, load of rubbish, play the damn kids Guus, I don't want to see the likes of Oscar and Ivan anymore, stop talking about playing kids and actually play more of them, there's nothing to play for. April 9, 201610 yr Looked like a bunch of players who had been told to get their bags packed. Conte visited midweek didn't he? Hope your right, we definitely need to napalm this squad, the vibe is bad on the pitch again, we can't go any further like this.
April 9, 201610 yr Fabregas was bad, but Ivanovic was absolutely atrocious. And miazga was even worse.
April 9, 201610 yr Most of you calling for youth to be given a chance are now feeling disappointed after we lost. Well Guss sacrifice the unbeaten run to satisfy your curiosity. All the young players struggled today which shows Guss knew what he was doing by playing one or two youth players in the midst of the senior players so the youth won't be under too much pressure to perform.
April 9, 201610 yr And miazga was even worse. I don't think so. HIs header for their goal was crap and he misplaced a couple of passes, but Ivanovic was at it all game. Miazga was unlucky to be hooked at HT.
April 9, 201610 yr Miazga was dreadful I'm afraid, comfortably our worst player. He was out of position, missed a lot of tackles and twice his clearances were weak.
April 9, 201610 yr Miazga was dreadful I'm afraid, comfortably our worst player. He was out of position, missed a lot of tackles and twice his clearances were weak. Defensively I don't think Ivanovic was much better over the course of the 90. Lazy passes to Swansea players, poor positioning and some questionable marking choices meant Miazga (in his second start) got barely any support. Hooking him when we're trying to develop youngsters sends the wrong message although I understand that isn't something everyone cares about. Fact is young players coming through will always make mistakes. That's happened since football started, but it's about how they recover and Miazga was unlucky not to get a chance to make up for his mistakes. Edited April 9, 201610 yr by ShedEnder91

That said, Mikel aside, the defence hardly covered themselves in glory. Begovic was jittery, even Dave wasn't great. Much work to be done. But without Costa, Willian, JT, Zouma, Cahill and Hazard we do have an excuse or two.

What are you on about? Sorry but young players will always make mistakes because that is the nature of inexperience. In fact most people are complaining about the performance of the 'experienced' players rather than the youngsters. Loftus-Cheek was one of the better players and even Rahman had some bright moments going forwards. So come on mate, be fair.
April 9, 201610 yr poxy horse fell at the second I had Gallant Oscar but he unseated his Rider with no fence around, sounds familiar.
April 9, 201610 yr How come most people are talking about how bad Fabregas was when Oscar's performance was worst.
April 9, 201610 yr How come most people are talking about how bad Fabregas was when Oscar's performance was worst. Oscar still created chances despite playing poorly, can't say the same for Fabregas.

Loftus-Cheek was probably the best player on the pitch for us today. How come most people are talking about how bad Fabregas was when Oscar's performance was worst. Maybe you should read through the thread, Oscar was criticised for his performance.
April 9, 201610 yr Didn't even test the keeper.........what a lazy and pathetic performance from the players today. Only 3 players should feel good about their performance today, Loftus-Cheek, Rahman and Mikel, the rest just weren't up for it at all. There's being up for it and actually influencing the game, Loftus-Cheek wasn't up for it in that respect. Doesn't mean I want him sold, he can be a good squad player for us, but 11 Loftus-Cheek's and we'll become the new Aston Villa. Edited April 9, 201610 yr by the special one
April 9, 201610 yr Not surprised by the result one bit. Most teams that are missing as many players as us would suffer, add that to the ongoing issues we've had all season and it's bound to go this way. Glad the young players got minutes though, but they shouldn't be held to blame for the result. Plenty of experienced players were before par today. Hey ho, bring on the next match!

Doesn't mean I want him sold, he can be a good squad player for us, but 11 Loftus-Cheek's and we'll become the new Aston Villa. Oh come on mate. He's a young player in a struggling squad with a temporary coach and a fair amount of dead wood around him yet he's being asked to influence games already? As it goes he did influence the game early on and was a decent goal threat. He was also one of the few players finding their targets with their passes but there's only so much you can expect of a youngster. Saying that 11 of him and we're Aston Villa considering the shambles of their team last week is quite disappointing. I know it's only your view but ideally you want to see youngsters getting the backing of the support especially when they're amongst the best players out there. I just don't know sometimes.
April 9, 201610 yr If these guys are playing for their places next season then bye-bye! I think we are starting (continuing?) to understand who wants out :)
April 9, 201610 yr I hate the stigma that the word "young" brings. Some people sound resistant to give them a go. Why? What have we got to play for. Some of the worst players in the team today were Fabregas and Pato. My only regret is that we didn't just put out a bigger mix of u21s with the "usual" starting eleven. Next week Traore has to start. I'd have Abraham on the bench instead of Pato or Falcao. Palmer and Loftus-Cheek should both be starting and Aina should also be getting game time. The young players deserve to be in the team because of the effort they have clearly been putting in. The same can't be said of most of the first team players this season.
April 9, 201610 yr You would think that they would be trying hard to impress the new manager wouldn't you...
April 9, 201610 yr You would think that they would be trying hard to impress the new manager wouldn't you... Not really. There will be no European football next season, some of them probably aren't fussed about staying, as they would get bought by another club who could give them CL football.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be starting the remaining games, I think he did okay today and support his progress as much as anyone on here - but for a player who seems to have found his position at #10 I just don't see him developing into a player who can be regarded in the same league as the likes of Lampard/Ballack (in terms of goals/assists). I know it's unfair to place high expectation on Loftus-Cheek's shoulders, but if you play for Chelsea that's the level that should be expected - anything less is just accepting mediocrity (case in point we lost 1-0 to Swansea today and it looks increasingly likely we won't qualify for the Europa League).
