Is it me or does matic not look like the forward thinker we all know.

Do not get the TV and media w**kfest for Liverpool...why are they loved so much?

I would say that Africa has more notably failed to produce many top-level goalkeepers.

 

Save for Cameroon. They've had their share of top goalies: Joseph Antoine Bell, Jacues Songo'o, Thomas Nkono and now - to a lesser extent - Carlos Kameni (who can have the occasional world class performance).

 

As for defenders it seems the tide is turning - a lot of very highly regarded young central defenders around Europe - Kaoulibaly Bailly Awaziem to name a few. Also I don't think historically its been as bad as people make it out to be. For starters Kolo Toure may be 35, but he was at one time an elite defender. And African defenders tend to be underrated (vide our very own Djilobodji).

Matic lack of urgency is irritating me

The ponderous nature of so many of our players when in possession tonight is absolutely infuriating, move the ball ffs and stop being surprised when opposition players tackle you! Matic as usual probably the worst culprit.

If he does then I hope we give him better service than he got at the bridge for the under 21s on Friday. He was awful with nothing sticking.

He's been alright, it's a bit harsh to critcise him. A few inches wider and he would have got 2 goals tonight.

So my commentary say the young subs are down to conte wanting to see them play before he comes in....

We've regressed into our own half a little bit. That's fine but I wouldn't mind seeing another midfielder in there - maybe Loftus-Cheek for Pedro?

Strange game Liverpool with our defence should have produced more. Amazed with this line up we still have a clean sheet. Good to see Tammy on for his debut.
