May 11, 201610 yr Don't agree with that, England has produced plenty of quality centre backs. So has Africa! Sturgeon's law still applies - the vast majority of English defenders, and defenders in general, are rubbish. I'm sure you weren't being entirely serious, but the way you phrased your post made it sound like you thought that being African somehow inherently makes you a bad defender.
May 11, 201610 yr Good half from us, been the better side by far i think. Hopefully we can keep playing well for the whole game for once.
May 11, 201610 yr Taken from the BBC's live commentary page on Hazard's goal: "That's the type of goal which would look good in a Paris St-Germain shirt if you know what I mean." What a complete twat, what's the point in that sentence? Bitter d**khead. Did it last week too. Sad people.

What a complete twat, what's the point in that sentence? Bitter d**khead. Fed up with this now to be honest, and Gary Linekar said there was no agenda against Chelsea from the BBC last season. It's everywhere in the media, non stop. Any story about Chelsea, even good stuff, you can guarantee there will be a little dig or sarcastic remark in there.
May 11, 201610 yr Why do players complain about blatant yellow cards ? it looked like emre has been seeing costa ghost over and over
May 11, 201610 yr Possibly the most blatant dive from can at the end there followed by the most blatant moving of a free kick you could ever see, no where near where the "foul" was. Standard of refereeing is appalling. sh*t atmosphere as usual at this place, great goal by Hazard, lets hope we get the win.
May 11, 201610 yr OMG, he takes out FOUR defenders with his run, then shoots around another 2 defenders and mignolet. What a fooking goal.
May 11, 201610 yr Sunderland winning 2-0. Newcastle and Norwich are relegated as things stand. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
May 11, 201610 yr That was a good half - after a shaky start we became a far more cohesive unit and started to actually dominate the game. Hopefully we can maintain the performance into the second half. Hazard is looking like a world-class player again as well. His goal was a thing of beauty; if he can carry this form into next season then Conte has a magnificent base on which to build. Rahman and Traoré aren't playing badly either, the former particularly growing into the game, which is very encouraging to see. Hope we can see a few of the young lads off the bench in the second half. P.S. Liverpool's half-time music seems to be that 'If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it' song by Beyoncé - a veiled reference to Daniel Sturridge?

But it doesn't surprise me really, the BBC usually follow this sort of line when it comes to us on the live text. Edited May 11, 201610 yr by Blueblur

Loserpool loving media. can't stomach that in their best season in the last 50 years they are still losing to a Chelsea side having a nightmare season. and they are only one place above us but think they have a chance at the title next season, deluded
May 11, 201610 yr Just saw the goal, superb. Call me pessimistic but just feel we still won't win, hope I'm wrong mind.

No but historically it can't be denied that Africa hasn't produced many top quality defenders. They've produced a lot more quality midfield players and forwards. I have no idea why but it's true.

May 11, 201610 yr watching this feels a bit like the good old days - roll up at Anfield expectations pretty low and what do you know we're one up i'd love it if we beat them but i've still a horrible feeling that Liverpool will undo us at some point Come on Chelsea!
May 11, 201610 yr When you see Hazard score goals like that, it makes you realise just how great his talent is. He really can be as good as Messi and Ronaldo, but it's up to him to bring that out of himself. There is no reason why he can't play as well as he has done in recent times every single week. Hopefully recent performances is the sign that he is going to push on and become the player everyone expects him to be.
May 11, 201610 yr No but historically it can't be denied that Africa hasn't produced many top quality defenders. They've produced a lot more quality midfield players and forwards. I have no idea why but it's true. Yeah in terms of the top players Africa does produce, there seem to be more attackers relative to the number of defenders. It's certainly not unthinkable though, there are many, many individual cases (although a lot of them seem to get poached by the European international sides). Off the top of my head I would argue that it's down to the standard of coaching. You can develop pretty amazing 'natural' attacking skills playing street football, but it's far harder to do that as a defender, I think it requires a lot more coaching, tactical understanding and team-building. I would say that Africa has more notably failed to produce many top-level goalkeepers. Hazard's been cleaned out again!
