I don't buy the theory of Jose made Marital and Rashford worse players. I do think Jose put additional demands on players ( like he has done with us), and some players may not be able to cope with the demand of track back or man marking. Jose is not the type of manager that gives young players confidence, just look at how many games he could have played Rashford instead of  Zlatan. 2:0 up with 10 minutes ago, no chance to play a young player, instead it's Mikel shut the shop, or Fellani head the balls out.

Philipp Lahm has announced he will retire at the end of the season at the age of just 33.

Phenomenal player and has had an excellent career.

Remember when he played against us for Stuttgart, (i think it was Stuttgart but could easily have been Hertha Berlin) even then it was so clear he was a stand out player.

Craig Burley on Arsenal fans:

"I'm telling you, Arsenal fans: you are spineless. You are the mirror image of your team: weak, mentally weak.

"They follow their club across Europe and up and down the country in England, and they accept the mediocrity - and it is mediocrity, by a club of that standard, getting in the top four.

"They keep using the Champions League as some barometer for their success but every year up until now - apart from the time they got to the final in Paris [in 2006] - they've been knocked out in the round of 16. Every time. What's the point?"

I think that at liverpool there is just too much expectancy and pressure, and it affects who ever the coach is. Because they were once supposedly the greatest and best team on the planet their fans and the liverpool loving media think that they have the god given right to be back there again, i even think that the younger fans are brain washed into this thinking that liverpool should be at the top.

But they had all the time in the world to improve the team. It's been ages since their last trophy.

I can't believe Leicester fans were singing "Champions of England you'll never sing that" at Derby tonight.

I'm trying to work out what this means... Are they all under 30? Are they plastic glory hunters who've never had an interest in football before last May? Have they all got Alzheimers?

Answers on a postcard.....

Top flight football in England was invented in 1992.

Martial is still a great talent. Rashford's level I think is not higher than playing for Everton at best. But Martial could still turn out to be a world class player. He should play for someone like Tuchel or Allegri. Jose seems to hate the lad.

Now Arsenal fans think the only reason they're not challenging for the league is because they're competing in Europe. I suppose next season Leicester will be back challenging for the league then.

It's funny Arsenal fans see getting papped out every year at the last 16 stage or before as 'competing'. Everyone including their fans know when they get CL football they are there only to make the numbers up...they are everyones safe side to get in the knockout stages because they always deliver a failure.

It's too early to say on Gabriel Jesus but I have a feeling he's gonna be a superstar. There's just something about him.

I see Wenger and Pochettino are talking up the title race. It would be so funny if they both lost at the weekend. I still feel Spurs will struggle when Europa League starts to hit them.

I still remember Walcott saying how they'd challenged for the title in 14/15 and they were always like 10 pts behind us haha.

Worse was a poor choice of words on my part. They have both taken a step backward under Jose. It is because they're younger players of course and that was my point. Those two are going to have serious trouble getting into the team next season after United go spend 200m on new players again.

Agreed. Tottenham have admittedly a very good first XI but outside of that they lack quality and reliable depth. The Europa League will surely put a strain on their League form; The competition is a way into the Champions League and for that reason I'm sure Pochettino won't just field a team full of backups and kids. Let's not forget that they are still in the FA Cup too, although I can see them taking that less seriously.

When Sky was discussing the Wenger situation, I did enjoy hearing Carragher say there's things he likes about Arsenal and things he doesn't about Chelsea, then going on to compliment our ruthlessness at the club. I liked the line "we don't accept second best". It made me see sackings from a different perspective. People don't like it when we hire and fire the way we do, especially the likes of Ancelotti, Mourinho, Di Matteo. Many of our fans hate it too...but we can't deny our club's mentality and ideologies are more successful and, therefore for me, better than the likes of Arsenal's. We will never get love from these sorts of pundits and media personalities, Carragher included...but it's damn nice to see a bit of respect.

Pretty much. With the exception of Mourinho in his first season, all our sackings have been justified imo. We just have that Russian ruthlessness now ::ChELSeAFaN::
