Watching the Jose interview with Lineker on BBC2 tonight.

He talked about past Utd players he would "never of get rid of".... DiMaria,Chicharito, and Welbeck.

Then i turned over the TV and spotted the result at OT and chuckled when i saw the winning goal scorer, a player Jose would never of got rid of.

Just so. Oh how sweet it was when we finally won the CL after all those years of foreplay...

The fact it was our worst team since pre Zola, Di Matteo era further adds to the sheer joy and probably a feeling were never get again. Bolton was incredible but we were the best team and we knew it was coming for weeks. Munich however was a totally illogical victory on almost every level. We had no CB and 10 men at the Nou Camp, Messi and Robben missing penalty's, playing Munich in Munich for the final with 4 key players banned, two barely fit CB's and Bosingwa, Bertrand, Kalou and Torres playing, Robbie as manager, it was just nuts, just crazy.

I always said when we kept going out of the CL at the semis that when we finally win it we'd have one of our worst teams (by that I meant post Roman). Looking back it's amazing we did win it with that team, the top players were ageing, the squad wasn't the strongest but somehow it all just came together.

Leicester actually have a chance in this I think. Atletico haven't been playing great, both in league and CL. I would have given Leicester less of a chance against any of the others tbh. Nobody is expecting them to progress anyway so it's win/win for them.

Well I'm sure they'll be happy they got Atletico rather than Madrid or the other giants.

Probably on paper, tbh I felt the best draw for them was Monaco as they play attacking football. I think Atletico vs Leicester will be low scoring games.

Definitely the last chance of winning the Champions League for an ageing team that had fallen short for many years before, most notably in 2004 losing to Monaco, 2005 and 2007 losing to Liverpool, losing the 2008 final to United and losing in terrible circumstances in 2009 against Barcelona.

I'm happy that we at least won the Champions League with that squad. They were worthy winners after so many heartbreaks.

Me too, as RDM said that group of players deserved it.

Totally agree. I think Monaco would have been the best team for them to face.

So did i, but to win it with that squad and Di Matteo as manager (I love him, but he's far from a great manager) was just insane, ridiculous, unprecedented and those words aren't strong enough to describe it. 5 years on and i still can't think of a logical explanation, even with Leicester you could explain it with Kante in the middle and Vardy and Mahrez being in the form of their career's with us in Munich there's no logical answer apart from someone in the sky was orchestrating it.

So a lot of newspapers are reporting Kompany will be sold by Guardiola this summer. Apparantly he's been fit for three weeks but isn't even selected for their squad anymore.

I know he's been really injury prone the past two seasons but surely he would be worth a punt?

Lol what. Why on earth should we sign such an injury prone player in his 30s and already on a physical decline?

DL, Azpi, GC, Ake, Andreas and Zouma. Why would we even be thinking about Kompany.

I'm not so sure that signing Kompany would be a good thing. If this was three to four years ago I would agree with you but I do sense that he is on the decline and his injury record doesn't help him. I can't remember the last time that Kompany had a good game, maybe @Kinkladze1871 could give us a better idea.

Add in too that we've got Zouma and Ake coming through, plus with Christensen due to come back from loan next year, I've got high hopes that we're set for first-team centre backs for the next ten years.

I f**king hate Arsenal and listening to Sunday supplement congratulating Wenger on how consistent he has been in the fa cup made me take a look through the last 4 years. Yep sad I know.

2014 - 4 games at Home. 3 x prem teams and 1 league one team. Championship team in the semis and Hull in the final.

2015 - 2 games at Home. 2 champ teams and 2 prem. Championship team in the semis and Villa in the final.

2016 - 4 games at Home. 2 Champ and 2 Prem. Lost in quarters.

2017 - 1 game at Home. 1 Championship, 1 prem and 2 conference teams.

It is consistent but wow have they had an easy ride the last 4 years. No wounder the Arsenal fans was gagging for Millwall, it's the least they expect these days.
