West Ham Vs Chelsea (EFLcup) Wed 26/10 2016 KO 19:45 GMT

I hate losing, but better to lose with the fringe players than the big guns.

This game showed just how important Alonso and especially Moses are to the back 3 and wing back system.

Batshuayi seems not well suited to single striker role.

In general this team was overpowered physically and midfield defending (except Kante) was poor.

Really only Oscar/Willian and maybe chalobah are the only guys not in starting 11 against Man U that are good enough to play in the first team right now. Thin squad.

Was Azpilicueta better than him?

Most definitely.

Maybe Aina was overwhelmed or nervous, but honestly we was poor. look at their second goal. Football101: Show the winger/wing back towards the wing instead of letting him cut in. His first touch was awful, always seemed that the ball just was not in his control. All in all, not a performance which would make conte put him in instead of Iva if alonso gets injured and we are lacking a LB.

Glad we are out of this stupid cup. its funny how Jose won the league and this worthless cup in 2014 but all people remember is that we won the league, no one even calls it a double. Last season pellegrini won it for mancity and what was his reward he got fired. All we need to worry about is the league,  wouldnt mind if we lost in the facup first round also. One thing people forget is that not only did leicester not have europe last season but they also went out of the cups early. The league is all i care about. we can worry about cups when we have a better squad of players

Some of my greatest memories as a Chelsea fan has been us winning the League Cup and FA Cup. I hate it when fans act like these competitions are beneath them, it comes across as spoilt and ungrateful.

Dunno about that, I have some pretty strong memories of Harry Kane's tears. How can any cup final win against Tottenham be thought of as meaningless??

Besides, who the f**k cares what other people remember?

I have no idea why you would want to belong to that fanbase.

Our expectations have lowered if you think top 4 is a good season, only Arsenal think like that. Despite finishing 10th we still have a squad capable of winning the league.

As conte said....on paper...maybe.  And yes after finishing 10th, the players (and himself) getting the manager sacked, collective downing tools, fragile team mentality, a new manager and a new system, in a serious period of transition, yes 4th would we a good finish.

I like glory too and want Chelsea to remain elite but people forget (or likely werent about) on a larger curve of our history we only became a top 4/6 team since Ruud in 97 the year before finishing 11th, so even top 4 is new in my lifetime as a chelsea supporter and I'd never suggest now accepting less that a top 4 team considering what we have achieved post Roman.

However (a big however)  people don't realise this is a make or break period as to whether we remain elite (title challenge every year and go far in CL as a norm) or become a Top 4 or thereabouts team on a really good year quarters/semis in CL with no serious shot at winning. Our financial advantage is gone and we will not be able to maintain a squad that is elite if we dont get CL next year so it's top 4 or broke which isn't easy in our situation.

In addition with a very good spuds and dippers joining the normal Top 4 candidates it's even harder as we can see by teh fact 1 point separates teh top 5, that's never happened to my recollection, the margin error is all but gone so in the scope of things no one who understands the situation is focused on the title they are focuses on remaining an elite club and top 4 is crucial to that, so in conclusion bar something very special we won't win the league and I dont give a toss to be frank, but we MUST finish top 4 for the status of the club to be maintained and its not easy, not easy at all.

My 2 cents. While I would have liked to win, I am more than happy Conte played our youth. Our first 11 will not be fit all the time and we need these players to step up when needed. And games like this only help their development.

I would have been sad if the youth players did not try hard which I think they did. So no qualms there. Although I am ready to cut the cord on Oscar.

Would be great if they got relegated

Got rid of QPR if these c**ts went down too would be marvelous would counter the fact the Spuds are now...good :face_palm:

If the FL had any balls it would ban West Ham from the tournament and PL would serve a closed doors ban. However both are spineless and instead we have to listen to pikeys blaming police for their own actions. Pathetic. Totally pathetic.

I mean, this is a club with crowd trouble against Bournemouth, Watford and Southampton. Not exactly volatile fixtures. Rats belong in sewers, pikeys are one level lower.

Wonder if that leaflet has been reported to kick it out? Probably not. Can;t upset the media darlings. Hope they draw Millwall in a cup game.

I live in Essex, or bandit country if your a Chelsea fan. I detest the pikey boys more than anyone, for obvious reasons.

So losing last night was painful. Now they are only tenants to this ground, can we start singing west ham rent boys?

watched that missed shot by Michy again - he should have buried that shot - it was a perfect cross by Oscar - for some reason Michy went to ground - if he would have stayed on his feet I am sure he would have scored

One thing I have learned from this match is that once Moses or Alonso gets injured then we are in serious trouble. Azpilicueta and Aina obviously can't play those wings competently. Both of them are good defensively but will struggle when we attack. And if they can't help when we are attacking then we will inevitably invite pressure on ourselves just like we all saw against the Hammers.

Its taken this silly little east London club, who no one ever gave a sh*t about, who had the worlds smallest song book, consisting of one song about bubbles, to at last come up with a new one, and what a cracker it is!!!  I bet they'll be singing this catchy one for years!!!

Chelsea songs - born and nurtured in the match day pubs and bars.

WH songs - straight out of Chubby Browns bin.
