Any crossing classes for Alonso..he is incompetent ...love to see Ryan Bertrand play in this position .

He's put in 3 good ones, 2 of them were the fault of our attacking players not getting into good positions. Costa got on the end of one of them with a volley that went wide.

Not our best half, but we were the better team. We're playing a little bit slowly during our attacks, we have to move the ball quicker, like we did in the attack where we scored.

Very impressed with Willian and Alonso, hope we will see more goals in the second half.

COME ON CHELS!!!

They're not going to bust their nuts to get this back.  Too many hard games coming up.   And if they decide not to risk more yellows it'll be a walk in the park.

Would like to see a bit more urgency. Pedro and Willian are far too deep, which means Costa is quite isolated and just ends up dropping deep himself. Alonso and Moses are the only ones really pushing forward, but their crosssing leaves a lot to be desired.

Wat? He's put in some great crosses, no one on the end of them though

Important to get the break through. It was never going to be free flowing, but it might pick up now Sunderland have to come out.

Really miss hazards ability to commit players with his dribbling which gives us a man over.

Need to keep dominating the ball and i think the one goal will be enough.

Its ironic though, from all the possession we have had, our goal came from winning the ball with sunderland pushed up, which allowed us to get at that back 4.

Shouldnt be dropping points frok this position. Come on boys.

So far so good. Best way to sum up that first half. We have restricted sunderlands counter attacks to the Billy Jone's cross shot and the curler hit by januzaj. Otherwise a combination of good sunderland defending and poor final ball meant we found it hard to get through. One occasion we created quality and we scored.

We need a second though,  with Defoe and borini on I cannot be confident of a clean sheet. Despite our improve defensive form.

I agree. It was the same problem against West Brom. If we up the pace, then we open these defensive sides a bit more. Once we do that, all we need to focus on is getting the finish right.
