Absolutely horrible news emerging that Mason is fighting for his life right now with fractured skull and brain bleeding. Pull through lad! Praying he gets through that.

If true that is awful news. Gutted, I hope the lad can pull through and recover.

Poor guy I thought it would be a concussion  at worst, problem is even if he gets back to 100 percent how is he going to bring himself to go in to headed challenges without hesitating, wonder if an outfielder can wear a protective hat like petr....

Really grotty of the Mirror to report Mason as 'fighting for his life', Hull had to come out and issue a statement clarifying that he is in a stable condition. Glad he's ok, that's the main thing, but the media really are a pack of arseholes at times. No respect at all for the player or Hull with unsubstantiated reporting like that. Imagine what that sort of headline doing the rounds does to his friends/extended family who may not be in the loop.

"The Mirror"                      "news"

sh*t, sorry, I didn't realise the two were related.

Hull gave us a hell of a game; I almost sank to my knees after our second out of relief.

Not the best performance overall but a huge 3 points in the bag considering other results. However, the football side is relatively unimportant at the moment, my main concern is that  Ryan Mason will be OK and makes a full recovery. Best wishes to him and all his family.

Feel the team needs a refresh. Attitude was a bit lazy even if only subliminal. Quite a few poor passes, not many good attacking ideas. Kante has gone off his game over the past month.

Not sure what the answer is. Maybe bring fab and Willian on earlier. We definitely improved once they got on the pitch.

Despite Pedro's goals I slightly prefer Willian's overall play.

Definitely like the odd goal from Kante and matic.

I hope and pray young mason makes a full recovery from this.

Also of interest from this, an article from WAGNH : http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2017/1/22/14352396/cahill-ryan-mason-chelsea-hull-city-concussion

Sounds like we need to review our medical procedures if true. Gary, or any player, should not be the ones to decide if they are able to carry on or not after a head injury. Their lives are more important than the game.

Until the Premier League introduce a proper concussion test protocol, say, a temporary sub whilst the player goes down the tunnel for a proper check and returns for the temporary sub if cleared - if not the temp sub becomes permanent - then it will continue.

Add this to the list of 'below par performances but the three points is all that mattered' collection. Had quite a few in recent months, but that's what separates us from the rest...thank goodness Costa wasn't sold to China. He is our most important player and proved it yet again

Weirdly the article doesn't confirm how they know about him fighting for his life.

Irresponsible headline to an otherwise okay story.

I hate to say it, The Mirror's headline was written purely for sensationalist reasons, but it's not untrue given the unpredictable nature of head injuries.

Someone can be seemingly okay and then make a sudden turn for the worse.

In the NHL a teenage fan named Brittany Cecil was hit in the head by a puck. She went to the hospital and was seemingly okay the next day, talking on the phone and all. Then she took a sudden turn for the worse and died.

The actress Natasha Richardson died after seemingly being okay following a ski crash.

Michael Schumacher was conscious for several hours after his accident. Years later he's in a coma.

On the positive side, Mason was treated immediately whereas Richardson and Schumacher were skiing and had to wait to be airlifted. Every minute matters.

so when the MOTM poll goes up - I have to give it to this guy

Photo published for Conte has improved Luiz and other Chelsea talking points

Hull came into the Bridge to fight & fight they did - that Maguire guy was a beast - he was all over the pitch & he impressed me - Silva might be able to keep Hull City from the drop

Give the decision and the responsibility to the doctor. They may get a high salary from their clubs but it's their reputation and career on the line.

I think our MOTM was Moses, he was unbeatable yesterday. Very strong defensively, was great with the ball while going forward and also put a great assist to Costa's goal. Our defense looked great, I think the problem was with Pedro and Hazard, they weren't good enough to show how dangerous we're. But games like this happen, we won and this is the most important thing.

So everyone agreed that, if you overlook the fact that Koscielny was offside, the kick to the head was a clear foul.

And yet when JT was kicked unconscious by Diaby in the League Cup Final, it was not a penalty as it was 'a fair challenge for the ball and the contact was accidental'.

Do Arsenal have different rules to other clubs? It would appear so.

Fair play to Hull, they were the better side in the 2nd half and were unlucky not to get a penalty..which may have changed the outcome....as for our lot....we will need to up our game against Liverpool and Arsenal or the title could slip away from our grasp.

Yes the games against Liverpool followed by Arsenal will be the title deciders, definitely need to beat Arsenal at home and it will be tough to get anything at Anfield if we don't show up....it's not over yet by a long way.

Actually, we can lose both those matches and still be top by two points.  I'd rather we didn't, though.

I said before the game that Hull are now being managed by a good manager and this would be tough and that's exactly what happened so Let's see give them some credit. Also it's the mark of champions to play subpar and still win comfortably which is what we did.
