Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Featured Replies

So off to Liverpool then.... I wonder if he read that Express article while trying to make up his mind :face_palm:

It's all you're fault!

Not too fussed to be honest. I'd of put in a better shift than he did on Sunday and would of only expected an orange at half time.

Missing out on a player like Chamberlain wouldn't annoy me in the slightest, what does annoy me is us not being able to get a squad player to fill in at RWB / RW / CM back in June or July.

For goodness sake, how much were we willing to pay for Chamberlain ? £35m was it ? I don't for one second believe we couldn't have found someone better for that money back in June or July. This may annoy some people but our board are coming across incompetent in the last few transfer windows, there are just too many cock ups. The amount of time they seem to waste chasing and signing players is so frustrating, it's like they never learn.

Doesn't even feel like we are the champions. We can't even interest an average player like Ox, let alone sign a world class players like we use to.

I don't think it has to do with our status as champions but more of Ox being able to get more playing time at Liverpool and Liverpool more likely to use him in the midfield.

I agree. It's disappointing that the last two transfer windows, and now this, has had us making around half of our signings on deadline day or the last few days ahead of it. It may have worked for us last year with Luiz and Alonso, but it honestly not something we can rely on as a club in the near future.

^ c'mon Scotty - this ain't got much to do with the board: the clubs were apparently agreed on the transfer amount but the player decides he doesn't want to cross town purportedly in the rather interesting belief that he can somehow become a fixture in pool's midfield: really?!? Good-luck with that....Going to be hilarious should pool either not make an offer or make an absurdly low one which L'Arse turn down & he has to stay with em' for the next year.

For a poodle, he's not that bright is he.

Yes, well done to the board for getting a deal agreed with Arsenal, but could they really not find a player for less money and better than Chamberlain ? i'm struggling to believe that they couldn't. Surely it shouldn't have been too difficult for a club of our stature to have found a back up wing back back in July, especially if we were willing to go as high as £35m for that player.

I would have taken him gladly. I think he could have been an outstanding wingback....but he clearly knows what he wants, even if it's stupid, and just as unattainable at Liverpool as it would be with us.

With the extortionate transfer fee and the rumored wages, I'm not terribly upset on being turned down, but it does throw a spanner in the works. We are running out of time to look for alternatives.

An absolute plonker and a kid with no ambition and drive to put up a fight to get in the team of champions.  I guess he chose Liverpool because he won't have to track back and defend apart from picking the ball out of his own net.  Well I for one am not fussed...but the board are looking like a bunch of incompetent idiots...I mean why wouldn't you find out if the player wanted to come before you make and offer and even worse a deal with Arsenal.

Ox must have been guaranteed football or he is just thick. He is behind Milner, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum for the midfield roles. Then there is Coutinho, Salah, Lallana, Mane and Firminio. Liverpool are bidding for Lemar and signed Kieta for next season. Basically he will be a squad player.

At Chelsea he would have the chance to make the RWB his own.

Exactly with the lad Liverpool signed for next year he will end up at fullback there

Sky have the story now too. Though they cover their butts by saying he could stay and then have his pick of clubs next season. Either way he is not coming to us

If he does join Liverpool then Sky will have a complete w**k fest telling everyone he rejected us just like Lukaku did.

Either way, the guy would be delusional thinking he'll be guaranteed a starting place at Liverpool.

That's that then. Not too fussed but I guess that's why we made the Barkley bid.

Ox is a Liverpool fan so I can see why hs'd turn us down if everything else in the contract was the same. Bit silly tho because that Liverpool team is stacked in midfield and Klopp is harsher than Conte at times regarding player selection.

Gutted. f**k about for 4 months doing nothing, and then have the player reject you.

Now whats our board gonna do? Sack Conte for their incompetence?

2 days to go, lets see what panic papy we get this time.

It's getting old how we cant close! They should have talked to him first , its clear he wants to lose and not advance his career with a LFC move. All the best Ox! LOL

Do we know if Liverpool are willing to meet Arsenal's price for the Ox? They haven't bid on him and seem to be more interested in Van Dyk and Lemar. I reckon at this point Ox may end up seeing his contract out at Arsenal and walking for nothing next summer

I could see that happening. Best way to get the best contract.

People jumped here on this. However if Ox wants to play other than a backup for RWB he should go elsewhere. For me it didn't fit where the reports said he rejected 180k a week. Even at Chelsea 200k for a potential backup is not right.

Well, him being homegrown probably also played a part in the decision.

Don't get the overreaction to this, personally not that bothered. Price tag and Arsenal past would have set him up as the prime scapegoat. Would have gotten the Mikel/Cahill/Matic treatment from the twittering mobs.
