I think Rooney can do a job for Everton this season yet with the likes of Kane, Vardy, Rashford, Sturridge, Welbeck and even other oldies like Defoe think his chances would be limited. If he did continue it would be like a media circus with the tabloids trying to put pressure on Southgate to play him and then crucifying Southgate as when he does, he runs out of puff.

I think Rooney will struggle with 2 games a week, lifestyle factors.

Shame. Probably won't get the respect he deserves until years after he's quit the game.

Good player for England though never great. Scored a lot of his goals against minnows in the group stages that the likes of Linekar didn't have the luxury to play against. Didn't really do it in tournaments. The right time to call it a day from the international team.

I genuinely believe he signed his new deal as some sort of inner siege mentality against the fans giving him so much sh*t, he is that petty/stubborn.

Also a side note did anyone see the programme on BT with Dalglish, Henry and Keane talking about the great Chelsea, Arsenal, United, Blackburn sides? Henry praised Fergie for acknowledging what he couldn't do and appointing the appropriate coaching staff to assist him, subtle dig at Wenger if ever i saw one.

So United have re-signed Ibrahimovic on a one year deal. Their squad is definitely the strongest in the league. It's hard to tell if they have the best 11 but they definitely have the strongest squad.

Yeah I saw that from Henry, and he's right. All great people can see their own weakness and the truly great surround themselves with those who can supplement them. One of the most successful business men I know is incredibly dim, he can barely read or write. But he has an incredible sense of business, just knows where to be and what to do.  He leaves the technical stuff to his aides.

I suspect having Ibra around may have an impact on Lukaku's confidence.

If lukaku is shunted out wide you could imagine him being very put out. 

Can't wait for a big away game or a CL 1/4 and Lukaku is on the bench in favor of Ibra. 

Neither Lukaku nor Ibra will be happy sat on the bench. Will be interesting to see how this one plays out. 

Ibrahimovic is about 37/38 isn't he? He'll be fine sitting on the bench. I'm sure he knows he's coming back as a rotation option.

But they managed to crowbar Stevey ZERO PL's Gerrard in.

My team i think is the best team and bloody unstoppable at their peak, Gerrard would just get in the way in this team, what with all his slipping over and jinxed team huddle inspirational rants.

35. Kept himself in peak physical condition throughout his career though, just as good last season as he was 5 years ago.

I wouldn't even have Giggs in it, he was a top player but over-rated due to his longevity and in my opinion at there absolute best Pires and Hazard are/were both better.

This is the team i would have, maybe 4-3-3 with Lamps replacing Shearer. 

City have looked so poor so far this game. On another note, Ake looks so comfortable in defence. Still think keeping him would have been a better option than Rudiger.
