Drinkwater set to stay at Leicester after Chelsea failed to increase the bid.

Thank God! Just like Barkley another squad filler.

Well the sky italia reporter just confirmed what we already knew that Conte will feel upset with the board if we only can get Zappacosta. People can say we have too many fans complaining but ffs we have a world class manager who wins the f**king league his first season but still doesn't get backed in the transfer window. It's been an awful transfer window so far and looks to be finishing with a whimper.

Why were we even bidding for him??

I agree with you in that I wouldn't touch Barkley with a long barge pole, but we'll get turned down by Joey Barton in favour of Plymouth Argyle before that night is out.

Gazumped by Tottenham f**king Hotspur in 1 day after dragging feet for weeks on a target we've been after since January. But no, the board aren't to blame.

What goes around comes around, didn't we gazump once before or was it twice?

So we are being outdone by both Liverpool and Spuds now.

Great!

what on earth is going on at our club? Are we entering an Arsenal period where we are paying off the stadium for x amount of years so can expect more of these windows? If so fine, just let the fans know.

Exactly what I think unfortunately

Whether we as fans wanted players like Barkley, Oxlade, Llorente, etc... or not, surely questions have to be asked as to why so many players are not interested in signing for us all of a sudden? I don't recall us ever having this many problems in the same window before. Something has changed.

Should never have happened. This deal should have been wrapped up in July. Even today, it should have been wrapped up in the early hours. It's official....Marina needs to stay away from player purchases.

Tottenham have signed Andre Gomes, Llorente and Serge Aurier on deadline day.

Chelsea: Zappacosta who?

They're being signed to sit on the bench and act as back ups. They know they're not going to come in and be selected ahead of Kante, Bakayoko & Fabregas. I can understand Barkley not wanting that. I can understand Ox not wanting to play RWB. We shouldn't even have been in for him in the first place. Trying to shoehorn an average player into a position he hates when in fact one of the reasons he's leaving his current club is that he hates that position. Llorente reportedly still wanted the Chelsea move even after Spurs came in but of course we bottled it. What do you expect the man to do? Tell Spurs to f**k off while we don't even look serious? Drinkwater is probably only possible because he's happy to sit on the bench. And even that we appear to be bottling.

We don't seem to have learned anything from our transfer mistakes of the past, what I don't get is why do we always do it after a title winning season? It's like we think we can just rest on our laurels.

This all can only mean one thing, we are going to kill it in the January window. :dead_horse:

We're not known for doing anything meaningful in January, Torres & Luiz aside.

It just leaves me to surmise that we believe we have the resources to competitively compete, without buying as reported A,B,C players.

The manager doesn't believe that and that's what important. Not what Marina and Emenalo who know f**k all about managing a football team believe.

..... with zappacosta and mahrez in the bag i think we could say fairly decent ..... now real drama is .. WHAT NOW WITH DIEGO COSTA haha

We've never struggled this much to get squad players before.

He's a disgrace but I sure as hell wish all this hadn't happened with him. I'd feel a lot more comfortable going into the sesson with him and Morata.

Because we're targeting the wrong players. And of course we've left it all until deadline day. But certain fans believe we're entitled/spoilt/whining for feeling annoyed about this.

I think we are penny pinching tbh. It's not a mistake history is repeating itself here. We have the resources to match deals like Llorente and co...we bid a near 70 million for Sandro after all. The board just want to spend as little as possible and hope the manager works miracles. We all know how it ends but they simply don't care it seems.

But surely Barkley isn't gettign in ahead of Alli, Dembele, Wanyama, Erickson. He i not good enough.

The point raised is a valid one, there is clearly something wrong here. I think it is our negotiating with agents that is at the root of this. It is so transparent that these players are making last ditch choices to go where the agents are sending them
