September 1, 20178 yr It was a comparison of defenders. Both of which they are.Of course, you have right. I live in Torino and my parents are Torino supporters, but I'm a Juventus fan [emoji16]. Zappacosta is a good player, yes, it's true he's a right WING back, he's a defender but with forward skills and attitude
September 1, 20178 yr Don't know much about him other than that hes supposed to be a better darmian, certainly a better option for wing back left/right then ox would have been. Has pace and can cross the ball, scores a few. Did not know much about Alonso either to be fair when he signed so this could turn out to be a great signing or a "papy" one, lets get behind the guy and hope he can do wonders under Conte.
September 1, 20178 yr if he is a player that conte gave his international break to, it has to be an excellent signing for us

September 1, 20178 yr Well, then you would know that Juventus almost bought him in 2015 but until today I don't know the reason why he went over to join Torino. Yes, he's a Juventus fan since was a kid and Pavel Nedved his idol but Juve wanted him to join Sassuolo as practice Serie A team so he chosen to join Torino

September 1, 20178 yr People said the same thing when we signed Alonso. Conte gave him his first cap, so he must be aware of the player's ability. If he's a English full back with 6 caps, he'd be worth 30M+. For once, we signed a player without alerting other teams.

He can and has played well in the right wing position too. The tactical part of zonal and man marking would have to be continually coached into him by Conte and his coaching staff as those are his weak points. But like all Italian footballers, they have an inate grasp of tactics especially defensive ones.

September 1, 20178 yr That's a great signing. It might be just another successful one (alonso). Good luck to him!

Not sure about Italy but for me Alonso was the best LB of Serie A 2 years ago at Fiorentina (Sandro was not yet starting) , Zappacosta is ok but not as good as Alonso
September 2, 20178 yr excited to watch him. His stats were second only to Alex Sandro i seen. Dont think he will be starting anytime soon, but if he is as good as Moses with better crossing ability, get him in! Edited September 2, 20178 yr by RickUK
September 2, 20178 yr Know nothing about him but love his name!It sounds like a farmer. You should call him "the Farmer" [emoji23]

I really do not remember Juve bidding for him, but it is definitely possible especially 2 years ago when he was younger and had played in Under 21. It is not a bad player and very likely that Conte will improve him. His price is probably a good 40% higher than it should but you guys have a lot of money so it is ok I guess

He definitely has a high ceiling as his ball control while running at speed is far better than Moses. The reason why he was bought pretty quickly was due to the fact that he was surplus to requirements as De Silvestri replaced him at right back in a flat back 4 and Zappacosta is really not suited to that role (at least that's what I think). The coaching staff at the Bridge will need to drill some tactical defensive discipline in him but I think he will improve on this as all Italian footballers have that defensive nous in them Edited September 2, 20178 yr by lchk
September 2, 20178 yr I've never heard of him tbh. Cool name though, and judging by his You tube highlights, he has an excellent delivery. Could he push moses out of team? I guess time will tell. Interesting acquisition.
September 3, 20178 yr I could easily see him becoming an Alonso-style 'bolter' provided that he adjusts to the PL (Alonso had PL experience so was a surer bet in that regard). He's apparently good going forward, has plenty of energy, works hard, is reasonably quick and crosses well. Apparently he's rather average defensively, but then so are Moses and Alonso. Indeed, Moses is just a reconstituted winger.
September 3, 20178 yr Anyone heard him talk he sounds like he has been living here years, not only perfect English but almost an English twang to his accent...?
