Zappacosta

Can't believe no one is talking about him, one of the bright sparks of yesterday's game, he tore Baines a new one multiple times. He needs a Premier League start.

Dont really agree. Whilst he offered width and got forward more than Kennedy he had a pretty poor final ball and was out of position a fair few times. Allowed to many crosses to come in from his side and needed to get tighter on evertons wide players to stop the cross. Stood off too much, maybe taking lessons from gaz.

Agree & disagree given the circumstances, I liked his mentality, always wanted to get ahead and attack, something we've been missing on the left with Alonso this season. Defensively there were some woes in the 2nd half, but the midfield was completely overrun. I don't think his final ball was too bad though, I think he did very well given that he got no service. There were two times he got to the byline and both times he did it was him running from the halfway line beating players.

Good game for Zappa last night, he is different than Moses, he gives more in attack, but his defense is less good. It's a different option for Conte

Was my man of the match yesterday. Hopefully he gets a start at the weekend, think he's earned it personally.

Posted this on his Twitter account this morning which made me smile.

Really not keen on zappacosta. He works hard, but his quality on the ball is pretty poor. He definitely was not near the top of list of transfer targets.

I can't see him being anything more than a squad player, and he has filled in okay for moses.

Overall though he isn't an improvement.

I didn't think we needed an upgrade on Moses, more so someone to cover when he's out or needs a rest. Zappa should be a useful squad player to have.

Exactly, Zappa showed that he could manage big games against MU or Liverpool, but I think the number one is Moses, but Zappa is a great squad player

He's poor, tbh.

Italian Gronkjear.

But plays wing back.

Not seen one decent cross from him, low or high, and he's had tons of opportunities to deliver.

He's fast and a willing runner.

That's about it.

Looks very much like what he was - The last minute choice.

No sign whatsoever of these crosses he was supposedly good at either.

What has Zappacosta done that Ola Aina wouldn't have been able to do so far ? Nothing from what i have seen. Zappacosta is too rigid for this league and the role we need him to play. You can get away with it if you have some skill on the ball like Alonso, but Zappacosta doesn't even have that. His crossing is really poor, i have seen him balloon so many already this season. Ok, beat your first man, but you don't need to beat the stadium too. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but he looks like a waste of money and would probably really struggle to get into any side in the league. I would rather we had stuck with Ola Aina, he would have got a lot more minutes this season too.

He's not good at anything. And i don't even think i am harsh when i say that.

He's poor defensivly, he is a horrible crosser of the ball, no physique to talk about and beats his man once in a blue moon.

I don't see any reason why he should be a Chelsea-player. Not good enough and for me he epitomise the reason why we are 16 points behind Manchester City. We mess about all summer not  any getting the targets the manager actually wants at wingback and then we end up with a crap one on deadline day and still expect us to challenge the best.

The only positive with buying ZappaCosta for me is that I have learnt to appreciate Victor Moses a lot more.... LOL !! But you are right - I would much rather have OlaAina and the ZappaCosta money that this Zlatan-imposter !!

So far seems a one trick pony, he shifts the ball and surprises his man with pace. Today Martina was having none of it and he was completely nullified. I still hope he can get better but I don't think he will ever compete with Moses.

You can't play two wingbacks with the mobility of Alonso and Zappacosta in this formation, it just won't work in the long run. 1 you can get away with, but he has to have some skill on the ball ( which Alonso has ) but you can't have two of them. They are both two slow and too rigid. You need quick fullbacks who are mobile to make use of it. The wingbacks are crucial to our formation working and i can't believe that we haven't given Conte what he needed to make it work. The board surely knew that Conte liked to play with a back 3 with the wingbacks supporting the attack when they hired him, getting suitable players for the role should have been their main objective over the last two years.

To make this work, Conte had to convert a RW into a RWB, he had to make do with panic buy LWB at the end of last season's transfer window, wasn't given another LWB to back up the previous season's panic buy this season, and then he get's another panic buy this season but at RWB instead.

If you can't give the manager what he needs to get his tactics to work, then why hire the manager in the first place ?

He's not good enough. Considering we linked with about 10 other players before, it tells you everything you need to know about his quality.

If the club carry on making mistakes in transfer windows, then there is no chance we will be able to compete with city or United.

I wish we would just break the bank on 2 or 3 signings to give us a fighting chance.

He is the perfect showpiece for how poor our transfer window was. Not one player signed good enough to improve us.

Over time morata should produce more consistently but this is his first club as a first choice. Baka has potential but is not polished. Yet he is still picked ahead of drinkwater...and zappa...well like you all say are our youth that much poorer?

He's not a Chelsea player that much was obvious from the 1st time I saw him play. This is the new level of player we sign. Even Alonso is not THAT much better. No wonder we are 16 points behind the leaders

Gotta be honest, just don't rate him.

He doesn't look like a footballer - has the appearance of someone you'd normally see with a cloak and a magic wand, pulling rabbits out of a top hat!
