July 4, 20206 yr Another strong performance, was a big part of our off-the-ball quality which snuffed out any resistance.
July 5, 20206 yr Lampard seems to like him though, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is still here next season. The problem I have with Barkley is that he takes so long to do anything. He's strong, quick, can pass, can shoot, but his tentative temperament holds all of this back. He'll be 27 next season and I just don't think he will ever shake it off. I feel like it's the main thing that has stopped him becoming a top player.
July 5, 20206 yr Not the worse squad player to have in all fairness., just keep him away from the starting XI.

He has the ability to be a top player I just don’t think he has the football IQ for it. His decision making at times is absolutely horrendous, even last night where he had a good game. There was a point where he had the ball and Willian was wide right and if he just passed him the ball he was one on one with the full back. Instead of playing the pass he done a 360 degree turn and let everyone get back and then got tackled anyway & lost the ball. He’s just an extremely frustrating player and if we get a good offer for him I’d look to move him on as well.

July 6, 20206 yr You know what... I think he's earned a spot in the squad. I was happy to sell him before, but in all honesty he's more than fine as a decent squad player

In league cup games and early FA cup rounds, he can have a big impact when some of our first teamers need to rest. Don't get me wrong, earlier in the season I wanted him gone for his poor performances, but he really has upped his game and I have no issue with keeping him here for the time being. Our midfield is good, but we still need good backup players as well.
July 6, 20206 yr I think Barkley will stay with us while Lampard is manager. Frank realises his squad potential.

I think Frank rates Mount and RLC higher than Barkley and if we get Havertz, one of them will have to leave and Barkley is most likely. Havertz looks to me like he will end up playing in a 3 man midfield as the number 8 and be the creative one.

If we were to bring Havertz into the mix I don't think we need Barkley anymore and we could probably get a good fee for him.

July 6, 20206 yr Barkley is an odd player to say the least. He never seems to put in an all round brilliant performance. He will score or assist and then go on to mess up a counter attack or misplace easy passes thus breaking down our play. In the end his performances turn out to be average with the good and bad cancelling each other out. Simply not good enough to be a regular in the 1st team if we want to challenge for the title. With Mount and RLC we should be fine for depth in midfield. This is taking into account the possible arrival of Havertz Edited July 6, 20206 yr by Marrone

Lamps talked about how he could play there last year, and its a position he is familiar with, especially at youth level.

Yeah I agree 100%, but RLC has been so stupidly injury prone that I you cannot trust him to be fit all season

Tbf we've got plenty of players to offload to help balance the books I think. 1 minute ago, big blue said: I wouldnt be suprised if RLC is tried at Dm. I think that would be a complete waste of his abillities to be honest, he actually showed last game some glimpses of what we saw from him last season towards the end. He's excellent going forward.

It would be a complete waste of RLC`s talent to play him there, and even though he sort of played that at youth he was much more of a box to box type player who didnt really play as a DM, or at least not the usual holding sitting deep type.
