Welcome Ross Barkley

Keep forgetting we've even got him to be honest.

This is one to add to the list of "Wait until next season when he's got a decent pre-season under his belt..............................!!"

I have to keep reminding myself he's here too.

We've tried to get some English lads back in the team this year with Drinkwater and Barkley being signed and the failed pursuit of Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Thing is.... We might have been better off just showing a bit of faith in Chalobah and Loftus-Cheek... They might have delivered similarly, if not better.

We'll probably loan him out next season to regain his fitness. :laugh2:

Should send him loan to Liverpool, just for LOLz, or the Bantz or whatever the kids are calling it nowadays.

I think he will go out on loan next year. He needs games, and he won't get them here.

If he proves his fitness and shows his ability, I'm sure we could make a good profit.

Don't see where he fits our side tbh. I'm starting to wonder if we bought him to sell and make a profit

We would never do a thing like that!!!

Still injured.

All a bit underwhelming isn't it?

Signed him having recovered from a 6 month spell out from a torn hamstring.

Gets about 100 minutes of football under his belt... And he's been out for month with a hamstring injury.

I know he wasn't necessarily a signing expected to drop straight into the team but still frustrating to see another of our signings from this season not making the desired impact.

I think rushing him into the first team was a big mistake. He hadn't played all season and we were playing him soon after we signed him.

I actually never expected Barkley to make much of an impact this season. January signings rarely work out well straight away, it's usually the following season that you can tell if it was a good signing or not.

Conte is renowned for being a hard training coach, pushing players physically more than other managers do.

If it's true or not who knows ?

So when we get lots of injuries some people assume it's down to the tough training regime.

With the Gary Cahill intervention, it would appear the intense training regime when we are fighting on three fronts is too much.

Now Cahill has not done well this season yet with Cahill as captain that may prove to be his finest moment.

Any news for his injury ??

Returned to light training recently I believe but I wouldn't expect him to get anywhere near the match day squad for the City game.

Might make the bench for the Palace game and maybe get a run out for the FA cup game against Leicester but truthfully I just don't see him playing much football between now and the end of the season. There's too much riding on every game between now and the end of the season and I can't see Conte putting much faith in a player I'm not entirely convinced he wanted in the first place.

I think he is a bit like Annie - the doll that the St John's Ambulance use for training.

By signing Barkley it gives our physio department the opportunity to perform in house training sessions with a ready made dummy to practice on. Money well spent, i'd say.

I never thought of that, he has donated his body to science.........such a young age as well. Good on him.

We don't know how well he is getting on post injury to be fair, is he better than Cesc or any of the other attackers? He's also very rusty.

I'm also not against signing him because even if he doesn't make it here he will likely turn us a profit.

Why have him on the bench then? He hasn't even played 1min since his had this period on the bench.

At least he isn't afraid to have a pop from outside of the box. Would have welcomed him coming on last night.

Problem is Conte views him as an option in his 3 in 3-4-3, so he is behind Pedro in the pecking order.

Conte also viewed RLC as a striker ffs. Thank god we won't have to listen to his views much more after this season.

Barkley is without doubt one of our strangest signings of recent times and that's some going given the bizarre transfers we've been involved in. My concern is that these weird signings are now outnumbering the good signings. A slippery slope.

Didn't we have another sub to be used in the game? I was thinking at the time, what's wrong with Barkley for 10 minutes? If anything, he's faster, stronger than Cesc, and probably want to prove his worth.

It's all politics, just like Drinkwater, he's not Conte' signings.
