Funny, I'd be cheering if that article was from a year ago.
How things change.

Conte to Real Madrid is never going to happen ... they wouldn't hire a defensive coach who wants total control of transfers, and why would he go to a place where the previous guy won 3 CLs in a row ? He'd be on a hiding to nothing ...

Think conte may want what blanc had. A very nicely paid vacation  courtesy of Chelsea.

Even if he wants the Real job he is currently under contract and RM technically have to go through us. Openly admitting he wants the job effects both his and Reals negotiating position does it not.

I don't believe that Madrid want(ed) Conte but yes he seems the type that'd be more than happy to cut is nose off to spite his face.

Agree with both above, I think increasingly that Conte and the board have totally fallen out, and that Conte is determined to make life as difficult as possible for the board he feels did not support him last season (and particularly last summer), and he is trying to get every penny he can from the club (or rather many millions!), while the board meanwhile is also determined not to let Conte get his way after his attitude last season, and will not sack him, and want to do all possible to avoid him getting a big payout (after paying off so many previous managers).

I think professionalism has gone out the window for both sides, and it's a stubborn battle of wills, with each side seeing the other as practically the enemy, and not wanting to give in.

Meanwhile all this drama is terrible for the club, especially the players and fans with all the uncertainty, no new manger yet, little movement on new signings, with the World Cup less than a week away, it's a mess - hope it can all get sorted soon!

Azpi plays in the middle of a back 4 for Spain with no issue.

If we can’t give Napoli 7 million for Sarri you’d have to start thinking we won’t shell out the 9-10 million it will take to sack Conte at this point.  We all expected him to be sacked shortly after the FA-cup final three weeks ago but nothing has really happened.
I think the club was/is hoping some other club would take him off us but it doesn’t seem like that is happening.

The world cup starts in five days. The longer we wait the more of a mess we are going to have on our hands post-WC. List of things that need to be addressed:

-          No real pre-season planned as of yet

-          No DOF

-          Need clarity over manager-situation

-          Courtois contract situation

-          Hazard contract situation

Think it now depends on how stubborn Roman, and maybe more importantly, marina, are.

With conte having a year left they may very well just say "go on then, you say you want to honour your contract so that is what we will do".

They hired Jose,  knowing he was against everything their football ever stood for. He went on to single handedly ruin the classic RM vs Barca games and turned them into scrappy, ugly affairs. Most RM fans were glad to see the back of him.

Awfully quiet today regarding updates on the situation after all the fuss yesterday. The calm before the storm?

Surely some sort of official announcement be it manager or player transfer before the start of the world cup next week. 

What a fun ride this off-season has been so far.

I mean, if they really don’t want to pay for Sarri, I’ll do it. I’m cheap and I only have to give four weeks notice at work.

I enjoy when people speak in absolutes like it CAN NEVER EVER EVER happen... We all have no idea and speaking as if some of us do is ridiculous.

I believe Marina is set to return to London this Sunday so I doubt we will hear anything before then.
