This might cheer us up a bit:

Honestly I didn't think it was a pen. The ref let a lot go all night, it would've been a soft pen. Alonso is 10 yards out, and went down with a brush of the arm, he should've just tried to get a shot away, because at that range, he would've likely scored.

I don't care who wins the CL this season - anybody except Liverpool will do me

Looks like a back to back to back for RM. Cant see this barca team getting ANYTHING if they face city. The draws would be pivotal. Favs are RM and City for me.

I completely agree, I just appreciate that he's still supporting us.

On a positive note and a realistic one too we showed against city we simply did not believe we could beat them as they are much better than us right now. So winning the cl was rather unlikely.

However we are free of those mid week games now. Can focus on a fa cup already missing city, Liverpool and arsenal and trying to overcome the kaneless spurs and Liverpool who we both host in the league.

If conte gets it right and we make top 4 and some luck to win the fa cup will be a good season in my books. This one was just not meant to be.

Are you confident that if it was Messi who got pulled back in our penalty area that it would NOT be given ?

Thank god we have Kante, a beast of a player.

Moses is good at everything that he is asked to do as a wing back except one fairly 8mportant thing, the final ball, it stinks.

The magic went out of Fabs magic hat some time ago. No longer suited to the prem or big European nights. Hope he moves on in the summer.

Willian has been playing well of late and he is a lot of people’s darling. I was never a big fan and his attitude sometimes pisses me of at the end of matches when he trail. I lot of gesturing, and arm waving when he thinks he may have been fouled. Still probably one of our best players tonight.

Hazard, after a bright start just faded, doesn’t seem to be able to carry a team even with all his skill. Very fusstating tonight.

Coutrois has went backwards this pass too seasons. Don’t know what his problem is, maybe just looking out. With performances like this and others recently no big club will come in for him.

Overall is was the result I expected but i was generally  pleased with the performance as we did attack. Would rather see us setting up like this in a match than the way we did at home in the first leg or against city.

I've thought this about Fab over the past few games.  His game has got so lethargic that he is playing mostly short balls either sideways or back.  Where has his world class vision and passing gone?  If he can no longer do that then we may aswell have DD in the middle, atleast he can tackle.

The thing is look at the one he gave against I think it was Willian in the last couple of mins, he put his arm on I think it was Umititi’s shoulder and he collapsed = free kick. A wee bit of consistency would be nice.

What he say?

Admitted responsibility for the first goal, said we were unlucky, and that individual errors cost us. Should of taken a bit more of the blame on his shoulders if i'm being picky.

His fault, should have done better then bizarrely admitted shots between his legs are a weakness

Well then vardy and mharez know where to aim on Sunday then.

Maybe after this humbling tonight he will focus more on his game than talking about Madrid.

Clearly at fault for Barca's 2nd, yes Christensen could perhaps have bailed him out with a technical foul against Messi but it was Cesc's inability to control the ball from Christensen  (under no pressure) that led to the situation in the first place.

By the letter of the law maybe you could argue it was a foul, but what is given as a foul outside the box, rightly or wrongly, isn't necessary enough to be given a pen.

I'm not sure if I remember the Willian one, but wasn't it more of cynical pull back to stop them breaking?

@coco Its hard to say whether messi would've gotten that decision with this ref, who didn't really pander to the crowd tonight.

We've been absolutely robbed on many occasions, especially in Europe, but tonight wasn't one them occasions.

what did he say? "we'd have been ok if only I hadn't got ricketts?"

He did say that he didn't expect Messi to shoot from that angle. :face_palm:
