Higuain

Featured Replies

I agree, Chelsea needs an offensive fullback.

About Higuain, I know he isn't young anymore, but he is world class and he's the perfect central striker for Sarri's teams. Obviously, Chelsea has to think for a younger one, but this could be a problem to fix next season. Now Chelsea needs him, not Icardi, who is a pure finisher, but he is an average player when he has to play with teamates.

He certainly isn't.

I don't know what I could say, he stayed with us (Napoli) for three years and he was a phenomen, then he went to Mafia. Before Ronaldo, he was the best player of Serie A for everybody.

So do you think he could still make an impact in the right team and system? I realise AC Milan hasn't worked out well for him but they have been pretty awful in general this season.

Full back.

I agree we could do with strengthening the full backs. Then again the 2 first choices in those positions just signed major new deals. An upgrade on Zappacosta would be good.

Higuain is an upgrade on what we currently have that's for sure, and prior to playing for Milan (who are awful) his goal scoring record speaks for itself.

He won't be a long term solution but at this moment we need a striker for the rest of the season that actually poses a threat.

He's just like Morata.

You cannot compare the 2 in terms of goal scoring records. Morata has scored about 1 goal every 3 games during his Chelsea career, and that his been his return for most of his career. The only exception to that is his one year at Madrid where he was scoring about 1 in every 2 games.

Higuain on the other hand has consistently managed 1 goal every 2 games throughout most of his career. His record this season is about 1 in 3 but that is in a struggling Milan side.

That's alright mate but right now they play the same to me, poor form.

Yes. I also have some concerns over signing another striker who looks past his best. Certainly we would be looking at another stop gap option at best. Reliable finishers are a rare commodity and we don't have a good track record of finding them (as pointed out by others on this thread). Having said that we have to look at who will realistically be available in January.

No idea how you can look at his situation (not wanted by his parent club, not wanted by his loan club) and have anything but alarm bells ringing.

TBF tho, I've never especially rated him. Fine finisher. Useless at everything else. Not sure how that will translate to this league at this stage of his career. I think many will find him frustrating in his all round play and he will find goals harder to come by in England than in Italy or Spain.

but he has a track record of not producing at the Biggest stages. Don't believe me? Ask any Futbol Argentino fan what they think about Higuain.

You haven't watched Higuain much, have you. If anything, this should be the other way round. His link up and dribbling is elite.

I take it this is a joke reply? Please look at the goalscoring record for both.

Higuain doesn't fall about like a powder puff and can score all types of goals. He's the perfect choice as a main striker for the rest of the season.

No joke. He's 31 years old now, nobody should be signing players based on how they used to play 3 years ago.

Also he's a rentboy he went from Napoli to Juve wtf is wrong with him anyway?

How is Milan negotiating a loan swap deal for a player they don’t own? Higuain hasn’t scored since Oct & Bakayoko is Milan’s best player; let that sink in.

This whole narrative you can’t sign a top player in January is strange. It doesn’t have to be a world class player, just find a No 9 on top 4. Piatek has 8 more league goals than Higuain in a worse team, and has scored 6 in his last 7 games. Makes way more sense than gambling on an aging forward who hasn’t scored in 2 months. Is he available? Yes & it doesn’t have to be a straight buy; a large loan fee upfront and an option to buy will get the deal done. Jovic & Werner are also attainable; their teams are not  likely to win the league. A £10m loan deal till the summer with an option to buy for £30m-£40m in the summer will get the deal done. These 3 players are scoring constantly and offer great upside if they are a success. Liverpool are already linked with a bid for Werner in the summer. I just can’t wrap my head around why Milan will be swapping Higuain if he is any good for a dodgy Morata, when the former is less of a gamble as things stand and can fire them into Europe.

Piatek does look a good future prospect but that's if we can get him in January. I'm talking about a short term option for the rest of the season that's more realistic to get.

Jovic looks great as well with his scoring, strength and dribbling ability.

You can though; if he is rated at £30m now, offer a £10m 6mth loan with an option to buy at £30m. If he succeeds; they bank £40m, if he flops they make £10m.

But why would they want to loan out their best attacker halfway through the season?

Is that for sure though? He wasn't great last season, and this season he looks even worse. If anything, Higuain looks like he has reached the point in his career where he will only get worse.

You had him at his peak, those peak years are over now. It was 3 years ago, and in that time he has aged, played a lot of football and not looked after his body the same way many other players do. Time catches up with every player, and it's clear to me that that is what is happening to Higuain now.

I have never heard anyone else say that.

And I have definitely never heard anyone say that his all-round game is better than his finishing.

I doubt you'll be bumping this post in 6 months, I'll put it that way.

He ain't coming here to create and link up, and if we want that, then we don't want this guy.

An opportunity to potentially make 10x what they bought him for (£4m). If he flops they get him back and would have made a £6m profit on him.

PS. Can someone explain how AC Milan can loan out a player that doesn’t belong to them? Never heard of such a ridiculous move before.

And most def slower.......we are so sh*t in striker area that an old Higuian who is off form seen an uprade. This aint Higuain of 3-4 years ago, he is a diffirent player now and epl can easily f**k him up, we have seen it many many times before. Lack of vision and planning gets us here sadly.....doing short-term cuz the board thought Mora will become Elite suddenly and we put all our eggs on his basket, a basket that cant hold Water nevermind eggs. Has to be a loan or it makes zero sense.......crazy a Club of our size in such a League dont have 1 single semi decent forward.
