Higuain

Isn't he currently on loan at AC Milan?

This is what makes zero sense for me. Why would Milan swap an “OKish” forward for a “crappy” one when the former can fire them into the CL. Why  would Juve cancel a loan move with an option to buy in 6mths for an 18mth loan deal with a new club? I’d rather have the younger Cutrone.

PS. Fun fact Higuain hasn’t scored in the league since Oct, he would fit in well here then.

He will be better than what we have but once again the boards incompetence comes back to bite them. The time was in the summer to get a striker not Jan, on an old Higuan who will only grow slower and massive expectations put on him. Much rather get Tammy back and go all in for Icardi summer time. As many have said, no plan or vision. Where the hell is RA, he used to take control of matters in and out.

It's easy to say in hindsight, but I am sure the board wanted to give Morata the benefit of the doubt this season. He didn't perform great last season, but not enough to write him off under a season with Sarri. Unfortunately it hasn't turned out well, so gotta look at other options. For anybody to say they could predict Morata wouldn't perform this season is lying. Nobody knew for certain as last season he was injured in periods and went through personal issues, first time in a new league, trying to settle into life in London etc. Getting Icardi would be incredibly tough as we won't be the only club interested or can afford him.

Sorry but no.....not in this case. We saw plenty last season to know he would not be the answer. He is too weak mentally, too weak physically and just a horrible finisher most of the time. He is just not fit for epl at this level. Did the board really think he would suddenly bang them in just cause Sarii is here? We essentially went to the season striker'less.

What a sorry state we are in....club has no vision when it comes to young players, the Board just want instant gratification every season...shame we can't suffer for a season or two to bed in the youngsters, instead of buying or loaning has been's and buying mediocrity...I'm sure the fans would understand

It was all Emenalo, for all the sh*t he got from our fans, he was the one behind our best young signings of the last decade. Have we noticed that since his departure we have had a much weaker squad overall?

Most def..........

I am 100% convinced that Pepita wouldn't improve this squad at all.

Big teams don't sign washed up or bench players but Chelsea board has been doing it with Giroud,Kovacic,Morata so no wonder we must play either the Conte way or like Sarri with Hazard as a false 9.

Signing Higuain is a clear sign that the board became worse than Arsenal.

I don't see how swapping Higuain for Morata, as long as it's a loan agreement till the end of the season, is a bad idea for Chelsea.

Even if Higuain fails here, what do we have to lose? By now we know for a fact that Morata is a hopeless case, at least with Higuain we can try someone else and that's someone Sarri knows and worked with. If nothing good comes of it, he'll be gone at the end of the season anyway, so it's a win/win for me, given how terrible Morata has been.

I know Pipita's been struggling lately but given how difficult it is to sign players midseason, this is probably our best bet at potentially improving our situation upfront, even as a short term gap. I know people bitch and moan about the board and I do my share of it too, but sometimes things just don't work out the way we want. We don't want to sign older past-it players but buying young talent isn't a sure thing either (Morata, Batshuayi). There are no guarantees in this business, but at this point it almost seems, if Higuain comes in place of Morata and scores big fat zero all the way through May, we'd probably be in the exactly same position if we didn't do anything at all, so where's the downside.

Exactly... my concern with Higuain was that we would spend 50M+ on him, which would take away from building the rest of the squad. That's basically the deal Milan has. 18M loan fee this year with a 36M option to buy at the end of the season.

If it's basically a straight swap with only wages being the increase in cost, I'm 100% for it.

Good argument but I just want to ask your opinion then, shouldn't the club push for a long term signing while we still can convince Hazard that he should stay and most importantly while we still can really improve the squad for the Champions League spot?

I'm not sure if Higuain really has it in him to improve our team, 2 years ago I would have seen it but not in 2019.

I think that's what we all want... but I don't believe many of us feel it's feasible in January

If you ask me do I want Fekir/Icardi/Higuain, then Higuain gets picked last in that group. Do I want Morata/Batshuayi/Giroud/Higuain, then I think Higuain is our best option for 6 months.

I've watched a couple of his games the last few weeks, he's significantly more mobile than what we have. Moreso over Giroud because of athleticism, and moreso over Morata because of work-rate.

He's not out of shape in the least right now.

I do think that Sarri would be putting all on Higuain to secure us the Champions League spot in that case, so it's the club gambling more than just a bit on the 31 year old and if he has what it takes for the Premier League.

It's giving him the trust and not someone else, I believe that the board really could find another solution giving that we could be in risk of missing out the top 4 again.

This is not costing transfer money and it's justified since Sarri worked with Higuain before, it looks like the least risky option but it might as well be a very costly one in the end of the season.

Should the club push for a long term signing of who, Higuain? I'm not sure signing someone like Higuain will play any part in whether Hazard decides to leave or stay, even if it helps us finish in the top four. In fact, I believe Eden's already decided to go to Madrid come summer. I'll be very happy to be proven wrong, but I just have that feeling.

I share your concerns about Higuain in his current form, but like I said, given the timing and how desperate we are for a scorer, this is probably our best shot at potentially helping our attack.

Definitely not Higuain, a long term solution would be a real transfer, this with Higuain is trying to fix a problem with no money and thus taking a bigger risk but still claiming that there is an ambition.

A loan deal has to be the max.......otherwise heads need to roll. Imagine paying 50M on 31 Higuain.......am I wrong in saying he hasnt scored for months in seria a? Not exactly easier in epl.

He's scored 1 more goal than Morata this season and with more time on the pitch.......let that sink in for a moment. We should stay well away from Higuain, he's not the striker he used to be.

sh*t dude don't tell them about Lacazette.

Lets be honest. It is highly doubtful that any top quality strikers will be available in January.  They rarely are. We will almost certainly have to shop in the sale bins once again. A decent stop gap is probably the best we can hope for

Higuain doesn't sound inspiring due to his age, and his goal scoring record at Milan. Having said that Milan have been poor in general this season, and Higuain has worked very successfully with Sarri before. If Sarri sees him as the best option in the short term he would seem to be a reasonable target. Provided he can be brought in at a sensible price.

Regardless of Higuaín / Morata swap, I think we will strengthen in another position too.

Quite possible. Which position do you think? We already have a lot of competition for places in midfield. Unless we are planning to offload a player or 2.
