Millwall's march continues, should we go through hope we give them a wide berth.... we get enough bad press as it is.

i can remember getting knocked out of a cup by them in the early nineties and it all kicked off big time

HALA COURTOIS!

Another red card for Ramos too, which means he has received more red cards than any other player in the history of the game at top level football.

Ramos turns up for the big games, but I don't think he is a great player. If you are receiving that many yellow and red cards, there must be something wrong with you.

Complete arsehole syndrome, in his case.

Bit of a nail-biter in Sarri's old Serie C stomping ground.

Pro Piacenza are a club in desperate financial straits ... no manager ... hardly any players ... they started the warm up for this match with only 7 players who were all aged 16-19 ... managed to find an 8th so that the match could go ahead (they'd actually cancelled their last 3 games before this one, and risked being ejected from their league if they pulled out of a 4th). All a bit of a farce really !

I don't dislike Martin Samuel and this article is absolutely bob on. Cardiff should be ashamed of themselves for trying to wriggle out of paying for Sala. And the other stuff he mentions about them handing contracts to agents sons who are little more than Sunday league footballers just highlights how bent and insanely awash with money football is.

Very good article - he's a proper journalist. Raises some very good questions.

Just a thought though if Sala had not signed a contract would they be required to pay?

I thought he was flying over to sign the contract before starting, the article does not make that clear so I assume he had already signed.

He'd already signed and done all the photos with the shirt at Cardiff's stadium and they'd made the announcement of the signing on their site and social media etc.

He was making a trip back to Nantes to say a few goodbyes and possibly something to do with his pet dog.

For reasons we may never know, he made the journey aboard a light aircraft being piloted by a gas engineer (with some bad reviews and large debts according to various press) who by all accounts didn't hold a commercial pilots license. I've also read that he possibly didn't have the appropriate ratings for such a flight and his experience was largely gained taking parachutists up in fair weather. So why he was in someone else's aircraft flying a 15 million pound footballer across the busy freezing English channel in the dark, in poor weather, in a single engine aircraft remains to be told. I've read that the owner of the aircraft or at least its regular pilot had paid the landing fees and fuel bill with his credit card but he's not been heard from since. Then there was a Facebook post from the pilot following his arrival in Nantes saying that his ILS landing was a bit steep and that he's a bit rusty. It's a weird one where perhaps nobody has actually done anything wrong, but it has been a perfect recipe for a disaster.

I can understand Cardiff feeling annoyed they've just lost 15 million and trying to get out of it, but maybe they'll learn to keep better tabs on expensive purchases in future. The signing was complete and it was on their watch. That's the way I see it. And also, Sala's family deserve to know exactly what the heck went on and how each individual was involved. It may transpire that he was well aware and wanted to take this option for travel or it may turn out he wasn't aware of the risks he was taking. I suspect the latter is closer to the truth.

Thanks that summarises it well and agree Cardiff just should take it on the chin and claim on their insurance.

Otherwise they are just embarrassing themselves and losing any credibility.

Amazing watching Lyon going toe to toe with Madrid, done the same with City. Our lot would have conceded 4, only hope is to sit back & hoof it long

Lyon are a underrated side. They have some really good players. Lyon has produced quite a lot of good players.

Watching Liverpool v Bayern. Both teams frequently getting 4 or 5 players in the opposition box. In contrast, we seem to have forgotten how to attack properly.

You're so right!

I think Liverpool have done it better, they worth to lead in that game. Bayern's possession is interesting, Gnarby and Koman are very useful.
