If we didn't have Hazard at the very peak of his powers under Sarri that would have been an absolute disaster of a year. As menrtioned, Lampard did a much more impressive job the following year.

But on the flip side to that. While I don't disagree Lampard overall did a good job in his first year if we didn't have Pulisic doing an impression of Hazard during the restart we would have suffered one of the all time late season collapses.

Is that not credit to Lampard getting a bang average player like Pulisic to perform to such a high level? It's not like he had a Hazard who was expected to perform as such.

Maybe, but he also should have also got some scrutinity from going to those performances against the Scouse sides to whatever the hell we were doing after the restart (with the possible exceptions of the second half's against City and Liverpool we were absolute rubbish).

Just say it again for me, why do you think Kante had his most productive season under Sarri? I just want to be able to tell you why you're wrong again and see if you understand this time.

Surely you've just summarised Jorginho's weaknesses yourself. He only works in one system and if you close him down quickly in that system he's ineffective and it doesn't work. If we didn't have Hazard at the very peak of his powers under Sarri that would have been an absolute disaster of a year. As menrtioned, Lampard did a much more impressive job the following year.

Cause I couldn't find him being involved in more goals + assists in any other PL season.

Exactly, Jorginho is a system player and he worked really well for Sarri in his first PL season, he did exactly the same things as he has done in Serie A. Hazard also had arguably his best season under Sarri as well. Sarri even with Hazard but without Jorginho, wouldn't be able to build up anything. If you then want to argue that we only finished top 3 because of other teams underpeforming, this is actually evident in the season after Sarri, under Lampard so you can't have it both ways 🙂

Because he played more games.. When you compare his output to game played he wasn't most productive under Sarri.

Mikel was 10x the player Jorginho is. Just as good on the ball/under pressure but actually offered defensive resilience.

Sheer amount of end product says Kante has had his best input that season, it is what it is even if it's just 4 goals and 4 assists in the PL, it goes without saying but let me be clear it doesn't mean it was his best season overall, he was POTY in the league prior to that season but Sarri was the only manager that actually kept saying that Kante can do more in the final third.

Mikel also had better players around him so what Jorginho accomplished during his time here is actually impressive given the type of player he is.

Conte and Spurs are showing full well why counter attacking systems aren't sustainable in the Prem anymore.

He knew that as soon as he won the league with us. There is a good reason why he wanted to sign the high-profile players, he knew his style isn't going to dominate the league.

He wanted Alex Sandro (shoutout to @TomCFC85), Bonucci and Van Dijk and when he didn't get them he went mental, yes it is his character but he knew the label of being a serial winner was going to take a hit. He believed that Morata could replace D.Costa so that's also a higher profile transfer target as he was signed from Real Madrid. I mean sure he did win the title in Inter later on but he almost bankrupted them in the process and just left, very volatile and not your long term project manager.

Every night before he puts on his pyjamas and gets into bed, Guardiola must go down on his knees, and thank his chosen God in heaven that he never actually signed Jorginho.

But Gol said he's the best midfielder in the world because Pep wanted him before Rodri 5 years ago?

Jorginho is probably also on his knees and thanks God that he haven't had to endure being coached by Potter before now tbf.

Jorginho is what he is. Not his fault Potter use him more than anyone else in a "system" (what system?) that doesn't suit him or anyone else in the squad for that matter. And definitly not his fault he wasn't taken off at half time today as he should have been.

The manager is just a bit useless unfortunately.

Jorginho is one of those Chelsea players who I'll spend the rest of my life wanting to forget he ever played for us but the cruelty of human existence means I'll be cursed with a nagging memory of something utterly pointless happening that sucked so much joy out of life!

Even Kim Kardashian does more for her money.

Truly the Fernando Torres of midfield

Abysmal today. With his contract expiring in the summer, surely we are now at the point where we can get a proper holding midfielder in.

We should have one in already but we f**ked it and now may end up with an "alternative" who could well end this season with two relegations, yay.

Ah I thought you would be in the Potter thread with Harry Potter gifs.

As this thread is taking a religious turn, I can only pray to Jebus about this. But I know deep down in hell somewhere, someone is preparing a bumper contract extension for him

Most cowardly captain we've ever had, I've never seen another one pull out of tackles the absolute sh*t house. Should never play for us again. I hope Potter decides on using him as a sacrifice to make a point to this squad.

Are you both annoyed we (appear to have) missed out in Enzo? Genuinely curious.

TBH Argo he had a great WC, but apart from that I don't know much about him other than he hasn't been at Benfica for very long.

A sacrifice? We're not talking about a human sacrifice right 😂

I don't know enough about him, but I'm always wary of signing a player on the back of a good International tournament.

God awful. Please don’t offer him a contract.

Won't accept a new contract even if offered, gotta do the best for the club even when the owners and manager are clueless!
