He had a good game, him and Gallagher dominated the midfield. Defensively he’s still dribbled past ver, very easily when he does not read the interception, and when we are under pressure he’s just not good and we loose the midfield, like the last 10 mins or so. But he had a good game overall and was more progressive than I’ve seen him before. Fair game to him. Like I’ve said many times before, he’s good in certain type of games, and Palace has given us all the space in the world to come forward as they normally do allowing him to do his thing.

Spot on RMH. He had a decent game TBF but when they really pressed us, (the only time in the match really), in the last 10 minutes he went missing in action. Olise in particular waltzed past him.

Watching Partey performing in the Tottenham v Arsenal game though, what a difference it would make if we had a DM who could do that.

To be honest, if we went for a DM like Partey, we’d still need some creativity in the midfield as I don’t think that Kova will cut it and I’m not sure that Gallagher has that creativity at the base to help bring the ball forward (though I like him and I think that he’s got a place at Chelsea and today was good doing exactly that).

Of course we would RMH. But one doesn't have to be mutually exclusive of the other. Ideally top players can do a bit of both. We can have a DM who is also able to contribute in attack when circumstances allow, such as Partey for Arsenal. And an attacking midfielder who can also contribute defensively, as Felix was before he got carried away and went over the top against Fulham.

It has very little to do with him, you need to learn how a match can change its own dynamic at certain periods, they were pushing to score an we made all the possible adjustments to keep our lead, it was only natural to see that the losing team tries harder in the last 10 minutes of the match.

This doesn't mean that Jorginho is bad under pressure, the whole team needed to defend the lead and even so his progressive passing resulted in a good ball towards Mount that tried to assist towards Havertz and Aubameyang so while we had the lead we could have finished the game off in a matter of 3 passes after Mount went into space and Jorginho saw him making the play but it wasn't meant to be.

Been reported he has told the club he wants to leave in the summer and won't sign a new deal.

One Podcaster quoted someone in the media saying "he is counting down the days" till he leaves.

Hopefully you still keep posting on here mate.

Had a good game today, games against poor opposition him and Gallagher do well. Think it's probably their level.

Real Madrid and (pre this season) Liverpool poor opposition, learn something new every day!

Imagine if we had a fully fit Kante in the side... we'd probably win more games...

As for Jorginho, shame we haven't recouped some cash by selling him.

Good game. We’ve seen all Jorginho has to offer. Change is good.

Credit where it’s due to him always being available, great penalty taker and stability in the side. I’d like to see a more physical midfielders offering more going forward though.

Didn't Madrid knock us out the CL and Liverpool both cups last season? What a game by J5 though!

This is like me telling Angelina Jolie i'm not interested in dating her.

So the result matters now above all others? That's not what you say when the subject of him winning two European cups in two months crops up!

May be a surprise but yes the result does matter in football.

the stance i've always have is we won the trophies despite J5, not because of him.

In that case if/when we sign the supposedly transformative upgrade Rice will you be holding him to the standards that he must improve on Jorginho's best efforts In each respective competition?

Come on mate. You can't disagree with the notion Jorginho's retention and build up ability has led to us running circles around Real Madrid and going toe to toe with City in 2021.

He can, he thinks that as soon as Jorginho doesn't play we can win the league.

Top 2 with less than 30 goals conceded will be minimum requirement with Rice here.

If a so called pointing liability can get top 3 conceding less than 40 then it should be child's play for a supposed major upgrade.

For me, if you consider jorgi as just another good player then he is actually very useful for us.

The problem is when you watch some of the other elite DM that he is being compared to play, no way jorgi is even close to this level.

Hmm.

We can go toe toe agains city in cl final because of Kante, chilwell and James. These three players performance was the biggest factor of us winning that final.

You can argue influence all you like but there is a reason it was always Jorginho + one Kante/Kovacic

He did say that Rice is the best midfielder in the whole league and he saw no fault of spending even 100m for him so if the only thing that is separating us from challenging for the league title is Jorginho, by all means let's see how well we can do with Rice being the key player instead, or better not!

I know later on the goal posts would change and suddenly it would be very much unfair to demand so much from Rice, but it is only using the same rules that were applied to Jorginho so that's basically a double standard.

The funny thing is that he also believes that no club wants to sign Jorginho, it went from something along the lines of "as soon as Sarri is gone Jorginho's career at Chelsea is also over" to "no club is interested in buying him that's the only reason he stayed here", so apparently we're the only big club in the world that would like to have him I mean how stupid are we and all of our managers that played him including Potter now too...?
But then you realise that as it stands, nobody wanted to buy Rice; Man United went for Casemiro even if he's 30 and gave him a 5 year contract, Pep went for Philips and gave him a 6 year contract and now there are people talking about how it wouldn't be a barrier for Rice to move out of London so I'll let you to read between the lines there :face_palm:
