March 12, 20233 yr He's been beaten by so many long range shots it's unreal the first from memory was Sturridge doubt any other keeper in the PL has such a piss poor record being beaten from 20 yds plus.

Almost everyone has acknowledged his improvement compared to under Lampard, if anything he's getting huge leeway for some of the mistakes he's made since new year given how quickly it took for many to give up on Mendy (who unlike Kepa has a body of bonafide world class work in the bank). Someone did call him a disaster a few posts before, 2 years ago his goalkeeping was lamented across the board, and he was deemed to regress to that in the Leicester match. No utter nonsense at all from @evissy the way I look at it.
March 13, 20233 yr Kepa is not Cech or even Courtois. He will never be. He is Kepa. After the fee we paid of him he has had all kinds of pressure and he's handled that well in my books. At this moment the statistics of him are not fake. He is the best stopper of the ball in the best League there is. You can Kepa this and Kepa that all you like but he needs to be appreciated a bit here because of what he has done. He is very much like his compatriot in MU. Excellent at stopping shots from close range but will make costly errors a couple of times in a season. As do Alisson and Courtois (check the last game between the two). Kepa is better at distributing the ball than Courtois or DeGea in my eyes. Not perfect but good. Mendy is also an excellent keeper. His height is great asset but his distribution of the ball is questionable at times. I don't think our keepers keeping us from winning trophies. At the same time I understand if we are looking for new keepers. People in Finland are saying positive things about Lukas Bergstrom and telling he is very determined to be our number 1 at some point. Ambitious but I like his attitude. Haven't really see him play. We also have Gaga in the ranks.

Who else would you have instead of Kepa right now? Everyone says "ohh i would sell him" but who is his replacement? Kepa WAS a big liability and i was all for selling him. This seasons form though has being excellent. We need to give credit and praise for that.

March 13, 20233 yr I need someone to point out a keeper who doesn’t have a weakness I have seen Alison, Edison make absolutely comical mistakes that Kepa wouldn’t make .

Allison and Ederson can command their box fairly well. It's a trait you desperately need in this league to be a success. and tbf of the three, only Allison I rate as a top GK.

Some would say we should have bought maignan when we had the chance instead of Mendy but we won the CL with Mendy and i hope he can still rediscover his form. Yes, Maignan is a good goalkeeper but the cost to get him from ac milan now would be huge and i dont even think that they would sell him. Plus he is just coming back from a serious injury. a world class striker or a world class defensive midfielder would instantly make this team a title challenging one and thats where our resources should go in my opinion.

Ofcourse there's going to be a few outliers but all things considered I think he's got more than enough support. 2 years ago he was being rightly criticised for his performances, every other shot on target was going in and even then I'd say he got a lot of leeway. I have seen Alison flap so man times in his box and go walk about he only gets save because of his defenders. Is he a top keeper absolutely, is he miles ahead of Kepa definitely not.

Robert Sanchez would be my first choice but on a financial standpoint, with Raya on his last year we could get him for peanuts.

I think it is the type of weakness that matters. If Kepa's weakness was something like one on one encounters I don't think people would mind that much since we have a good defence to minimize the number of one on one encounters. However, his main weakness is his aerial ability and crosses are inevitable in the EPL. ATM that weakness hasn't cost us since we have amazing defenders that are good in the air but it's only a matter of time until we face a team that out numbers us in height and heading ability and that's when things could get risky. Personally, overall, I don't mind Kepa but if there is an option for a better Keeper than we should take it.

March 18, 20233 yr This is what the 4th time he's cost us since the new year, and this is suppose to be him in the form of his life. Assuming Mendy doesn't get his 2021 self back urgent upgrade required.
March 18, 20233 yr His confidence looks back.... His GK skills still on hiatus though. He, and Koulibally, f**ked us today.

A top class keeper and a genuine centre-forward/ striker who is a natural finisher.
March 18, 20233 yr Absolute f**king donkey, that's a solid 3/4 games he's cost us this season. Mendy isn't very good but f**king hell I'd take 60 year old Ed De Goey back between the sticks at this rate.
