A proper, consistent centre-forward who can hold the ball up is our absolute top priority this summer but replacing Kepa the Flappy in goal is also something we have to do ASAP.

Yup, I think we’ve all seen enough of Kepa to know he’s never going to be a top keeper.

I wouldn’t mind keeping him as a back up though. I respect him for his resilience after everything he’s gone through here, with his dire form and Sarri situation.

Selling Kepa is not possible imo unless we agree to pay the difference in wages to him as a "loyalty payment".

While getting a fee to cover his remaining FFP book value is possible (need at least 21mill) he probably only get a third of his wages paid by a new club (he is on a reported 250k a week here).

We need to replace him as first keeper, no doubt about it, but if an offer doesn’t come for him, I’d be happy to keep him as second fiddler.

Apparently talks are advance for Inters keeper Onana to join us.

Don’t know much about Onana but whoever we bring needs to be a top keeper.

I don't think we'll ever win a league with Kepa as our goalkeeper, but I think we have other priorities at the moment. Getting a good keeper will be risky and expensive. I think we'll have to stick with Kepa/Mendy for the time being and sort out the other areas such as Striker and DM. Then try and get a good GK next summer.

He is also quite eccentric and concedes comical goals.. he has a habit of parrying shots into dangerous areas.. I honestly don’t think he is a major major upgrade on Mendy tbh.

Why hasn’t he played today? He’s not good enough for next season, but Mendy is not even trying and makes Sunday league mistakes, he’s worse than Caballero at this point. Bring back Kepa for the rest of the season or try Slonina, but no more Mendy please!

Yeah is Frank wanted to hand a chance out give it to Slonina, but no play players with no future at the club like Mendy, Ziyech, Havertz, Kovacic, etc etc.

Don't change a winning team, especially one that wins 1 after 6 straight loses. Taking out the GK and put on one that hasn't played since November was just suicidal. It wasn't just the goals, there was zero trust and communication between Mendy and the rest of the defenders, every corner or throw in looked like fire arrows into the box. Maybe Frank is literally using the last 4 games as some sort of post-season friendlies to trial out players. If that's the case, at least throw in a few more young players.

Selling him for an FFP profit, or break even, is possible as his book value is 20.2mill.

His wages though make it not possible unless we pay the difference.

Mendy on the other hand has a book value of 6.4mill and low wages. Even with his horror show vs Forrest his past performances and being a CL winner should help us get at least 12mill for him.

 

I'd prefer to see the montage of every shot he saved in the latter part of the season, so we didn't drop more points and be even more embarrassed!

He does concede way too much from long shots to be a number 1 GK. But, this season would be a lot worse if we played with the other number 2 GK.

Problem is, players are encouraged to shoot with Kepa in goal, its not really any different to when teams played on Almunia's ariel weakness to get joy out of Arsenal.

Tielmens effectively admitted as such after the 2021 final.

It's incredible. As if the players are hypnotized into hitting worldlies once they see Kepa is in their sights.

He also makes them look like worldies .. have the time with a slight crouch statue position with only the neck moving to look behind..

Can never forget the city goal.. the ball was literally 2 feet away and he refused to collect it.

Looks like Kepa could be going to be the back up keeper again. Quite a lot of media rumours that Pochettino is very keen on bringing in Onana this summer.
