Saved 5 pens already this CL campaign, & has an assist to boot. Spurs & Utd are interested also. Just thought that it's interesting cause both of them have some reputation as penalty specialists, maybe less height also means quicker reflexes and movement.
November 9, 20223 yr Kepa is going to feature for Spain at the World Cup, with him 2 other PL keepers have been called up but none of them is David De Gea. Props to Kepa.
January 13, 20233 yr For all the carry on about his progress. Two elementary, classic Kepa stuff ups have cost us crucial goals in two weeks. Mendy can't come back from his injury soon enough.
January 13, 20233 yr He's cost us 2 games in the past couple of weeks. My second team is Peterborough United and I've watched a lot of their games this season, they've got our youth goalie Bergstrom in goal and he makes very similar mistakes that Kepa does. Basically Kepa isn't much better than a goalie that's been benched by a league 1 team. Absolutely hideous goalie.

We need a new GK, sell one of Mendy/Kepa and keep the other as back-up. Maybe sell both and use Slonina as back-up, I have no idea how good he actually is.

I actually think there's a keeper in League One that would start for us (and probably about half the PL teams in fairness) right now. Regarding Kepa, this is exactly why i stuck to my guns even during his mini spell, he's back to 19/20 Kepa now, if not worse. Edited January 13, 20233 yr by Argo

Mendy was quality, but confidence wasn't helped by change of defence. Koulibaly hardly feels me with confidence, so how can the keepers have confidence?

In hindsight it was a good signing to replace Rudiger/Christensen. These big money signings that were average go back to Conte's time here. £32m for Batshuayi and 35m for the likes of Drinkwater. Then £60m almost for Pulisic who was sh*t at Dortmund before we signed him. Morata we are least sold again for a good fee. Bakayoko was a failure at almost £40m. Edited January 13, 20233 yr by enigma

The Plymouth keeper who faced us in the cup last year (not just basing it on that game I made a post after the draw name dropping him as a future England keeper). He's the sole reason they're top of that league this season. Obviously he's not at the 20/21 Edou level but I think he's got huge potential and would actually be better than Kepa and current Edou. January 13, 20233 yr For me has has generally been decent though has now been caught out with crosses in that no-man zone between defenders and keeper inviting an attacker to attack the space. Yesterday was an out-swinger and he comes and changes his mind, if he stays on his line he probably saves it. No guaranty Mendy will be better at this time. GK coaches need to work with Kepa to make his judgement in dealing with crosses better.
January 13, 20233 yr Kepa infuriates me and there was good reason he lost his place to Mendy. Neither keeper is good enough. Mendy ousted Kepa when he had his purple patch but then looked worse than Kepa and both are way below the standard required for a top club and would happy to see BOTH replaced come the end of the season.

I think Mendy has a mistake in him, but for me he just does the fundamentals of keeping. Kepa's refusal to come and claim a cross by comparison hurts my eyes every time I watch. I'm open to a new keeper but I think a Mendy in form is fine. Kepa has never been good enough.
January 13, 20233 yr kepa had a good patch but confidence is gone and clearly back to the same old stuff ups. Have to be able to trust the keeper not to stuff up. Vital for team confidence. Kepa needs to go.
January 15, 20233 yr I've been busy today but kept expecting to see this topic in new content where Kepa is praised for keeping us in the game! He deserves as much as Kai!
January 15, 20233 yr Credit where it is due to him today. A couple of brilliant saves. The one from the header in the first half in particular. Edited January 15, 20233 yr by erskblue

Just watched the game back and save from Olise was great the rest I'd expect any half decent keeper to save. The XG of 0.58 for Palace (according to MOTD) backs that up. Good game but nothing near MOTM (that was Gallagher by a distance).
