Trial by media, Nothing I have read seems to have any real insight, For all we know it was an one of our 'allies' could of been anyone and the 'attack' seems suspiciously like this Havana syndrome that only a few weeks back the US said wasn't actually from any weapon, Could of been something in the air as they were in kyiv, Without a first hand account all we can say is someone is out to get roman, That's for sure!

Seems a bit mental for Putin to try and poison him, If it turns out to be Putin which is probably more likely than anyone else maybe because Putin doesn't want any negotiations and worried Roman might pull it off then doesn't that just literally show he's not bezzy mates with Putin and the sanctions should be dropped and they should be smooching his ring asap?!

It seems like the incident happened a while ago, mi6 probs knew about this within 24hrs (if not involved) and still the gov and its clowns steamed on to wreck our club!

I just need to see the proof roman is KGB or some evil influential evil master mind...Still waiting 20yrs on!

Has he been accused of these things ? no hasn't.

Or has he been sanctioned because of his close relationship with Putin the crazy war criminal ?  Yes that might have something to do with it.

The narrative that Roman Abramovich is some sort of right hand henchman of Putin is laughable. Anybody that truly believes this is either stupid or just a rival fan willing to believe anything the media tells them because they want to see Chelsea burn.

Why would Roman attend peace talks if didnt think he had Putins ear? He's allegedly agreed to act as an intermediary. To do this he must have Putins ear.

First ever post, from the USA.

Have the powers-that-be in government considered the future problem if courts rule the forced sale of the club to NOT be legal? What if Putin gets thrown out in 6 months and sanctions are lifted in a year and suddenly the courts side with the so-called oligarchs that government overstepped its bounds? And he wants the club back? And the new owners have no intention of handing it back. And it goes to court over who the rightful owner is?

It seems this could have issues down the line few in your government are considering. This war won't last forever.

I said a week or so ago it seemed to me that HM Government hadn’t really thought through how the end game could or would play out  and still believe that may be the case

No one is arguing if he has Putin's ear. He was the governor of churkolta (probably spelt it wrong) when Putin was in charge.

Everyone knew this and the UK knew this before he bought Chelsea . The question is was he a supporter of the war which by judging when the first peace talks took place ( before he was sanctioned by the UK) I doubt he is pro war. He is half ukranian for crying out loud but hey we live in the age of cancel culture so those that control the narrative win.

This is a really interesting point, as far as we can tell and all the evidence is pointing to the reasons for sanctions is pretty weak and they are dealing with someone who has the resources to do something about it.

I know I am very  biased but feels like like the man needs a medal not sanctions. But what do I know.

Wealth brings power. Putin controls his wealthy oligarchs, this is how he became so powerful, oligarchs are a big part of the problem, they are the ruling system, Roman might be a super bloke, but he's an oligarch, and has to take part of the blame for creating a monster despot.

Any future court action by Abramovich against the UKgov sanctions will never happen because it was sanctions against an oligarch at the top of the Russian ruling system.

Roman is not an Oligarch, it means Family born into wealth, Rather like the landed gentry of this Country, Oligarch seems to be a word the media appropriated to mean filthy rich Russians..

Btw love the way the media are fawning and foaming with Delight at the sight of Roman who is now persona non gratis for the government , being heavily involved in peace talks, the UK would love to be able to attach Our Roman the peacemaker general…

I'm pretty sure its actually the oligarchy that runs Putin, Its part of the reason all this is going on, They helped make Putin rich and powerful and can probably take it all away from him but that obviously a very precarious place to be at, What with the Wagner group looking to stretch their legs!

Back in the day, The UK GOV would advise brits to take bribe money if going to Russia as it was seen as an everyday norm, Just like many places today, Wasn't long ago I had to pay some police off to get to a sweet beach abroad out of Europe!

What this all really is, Is an attempt by a corrupt ineffective de militarised UK gov to look like billy big ballax on the international scene!

They let People like roman buy state assets then he worked his magic and turned them into gigantic successful company's, ok did it dodgy by exchanging things for shares but at the time people couldn't use share papers as a pizza base so they traded them for short term gains.

He's a business oligarch, forget the word oligarch if you like it's not important at all, Abramovich is part of the ruling system that has supported Putin for best part of 30 years,

and put him into power as well

Abramovich's presence at the peace talks is quite surprising. What I've read elsewhere is that Abramovich doesn't have a lot of influence over Putin, but Putin does have a lot of influence over Abramovich, so maybe Putin wanted Abramovich there to be the 'friendly face' of the oligarchy (which, by the way, does not mean 'family born into wealth' in this context).

Actually, it seems believable to me that Abramovich is involved purely as a mediator. He must know a few people. Being sanctioned is probably not his idea of fun, so this would provide a pretty good incentive for him to dip into his contacts list and do everything he can to help bring the two sides together. People who say stuff like "he's trying to help with the peace talks therefore it was wrong to sanction him" are not really thinking this through.

"drastically reduce attacks" does not mean "they are leaving Kyiv".

It's not really their choice anyway, the Ukrainians have beaten them back from Kyiv. It smacks of Russian face-saving to me. In the meantime, they will continue to lay waste to the 'easier' cities in the east.

Could be shifting focus of their efforts to open Kyiv up or pull defensive forces out or away from the city. Could mean a lot of things, but I do hope this conflict/war ends soon!

The only way we will be able to tell is when our side/intel come out that they've withdrawn from Kyiv, They have struggled big time like posters above have said its Russia pulling back language.

When are the UK gov going to apologise to roman then, Didn't see any of our lot at the negotiations, Why did it take the turks to sort it all out i wonder, Boris you joker!

Could be withdrawing to nuke kyiv, Could be moving most troops back east, Could be re grouping/supplying, Putin's war bill going through the roof!

Soon find out I guess

Doesn't mean romans Putin's secret shadow legend

Why would they apologise to Roman? He's clearly an associate of Putin. Thats enough.

Also no western country is going to be in the negotiations. We are all very much on Ukraines team. We can't be neutral

🚨 Sources close to rival bids, believe Raine wants to sell Chelsea to the Ricketts and their backer Griffin. The rationale is that they are proven, ready and well-connected. (Athletic) #CFC
