For all we are told about the 'new model' set to reduce wages, we have achieved all of a 5% reduction in wages from the excesses of the Abramovich era. Keep in mind that 77% figure from 2020-21 is from our lowest COVID-hit revenue period. That is precisely what it shows lol. Like @Bob stark said, we are not signing players for huge transfer fees but low wages despite what the media keep saying. We are signing players for huge transfer fees and above-average wages, and signing a lot of players to boot. To put my comments above in context, we have reduced the wage-to-revenue ratio by just 5%, but the quality gap between our 2021 CL winning squad and our 'new model' current squad is a chasm. In other words, BlueCo's model is a colossal waste of money.I remember arguing with lots of poster here about blue co (it is no longer popular to be blue co fan so the number has dwindled). The reality is simply, if we still want to be a top club you need to pay top club salary. Don't listen to magical contract or whatever. Player and player agent are not stupid.

Its not an underlying belief in the "project" that is getting these players it's the palm greasing of agents. Hence why we are also getting rumours of restlessness from some. It'll be their agents after further pay days
January 23Jan 23 As a financial genius and someone who is not at all sceptical about modern capitalism, I have come up with an idea to plug some of that revenue gap:
January 23Jan 23 Going to be interesting to see what happens when all the gambling companies are banned from shirt sponsorship ... 11 teams affected by that and will be looking for a new front of shirt sponsor at the end of this season ...

They'll just hike the prices.
