September 17, 20232 yr Hopefully he has another couple of big deals in him, because this front line needs goals badly.
September 17, 20232 yr Todd Boehly, Clearlake, they have really screwed us. I don't really blame the scouting, they are told to target a specific profile of player and they did that. The new owners have come into football clearly not understanding the game. They genuinely believed they could sign a bunch of kids with barely any football to their name and have them compete. Maybe this works in other sports, I don't know, I don't watch many outside of a few, but it doesn't work in football. It's too late now for somebody to come in and tell them their strategy is doomed to fail, the damage is done. The players are signed up for 8 years and clubs will need to be paid over that time. I get what you're saying Scott, but all we can do now is just hope this project pays off. Right now we are not going to get instant results. The first 11 have barely even played together before, the team is very young and raw, and there are too many injuries to sustain any kind of form which is an urgent issue that desperately needs addressing because it's been holding us back for years now, I'll wager it even cost us having a title challenge under Tuchel two seasons ago. With those factors alone I don't go into any Chelsea games expecting us to just grab 3 points like that. But, I do expect that we will improve further on into the season as there are plenty of games to play, maybe that's blind optimism but that's all we can do right? The cards have been dealt, we just have to hope for the best right now. Last season was an absolute clusterf**k and I was fully on top of the owners to bin Potter because I felt like we were wasting our time. Right now there's no point pulling the plug on Pochettino because he's probably one of the only viable candidates who can whip this young team into some shape. Basically the bottom line is what's done is done, the circumstances are not great, but there is still time and potential to turn this around as the season goes on. If you don't want to believe that, that's fine, but what can really be done about it? Nothing, all we can do is see how it plays out.
September 17, 20232 yr How does a group spend this much and look even further from the destination. What we continue to see week in week out is appalling. and frankly unacceptable for any organization that wants to call itself professional. £1B on transfers, and our bench today had 6 players on it that have never played in the Premier League. Second time this season the bench has had two goalkeepers. Its an absolute joke. Sure, some will say injuries, but why the bloody hell does every new signing take so long to integrate, and then when they get near the team they get injured. I'm tired of these pathetic weekly marketing videos with players banging in goals from 30 yards against training dummies. On the pitch none of them have any bottle, none of them, Absolute bunch of cowards at the moment this group
September 17, 20232 yr Any good players we have won't accept being on lower pay for long under these incentives based contracts imo. If Enzo and Moises are the stars many believe they are, they will force our to make more money. I believe many signed believing that CL was a cert and so was their cash flow.

September 17, 20232 yr Everyone and their mothers could see they had messed up again in squad makeup but the owners couldn't. Such a huge gamble on Nkunku and even when he's fit our season now relies on him. They should have signed another world class attacker who can score and create. Assuming Sterling and Nkunku can carry an under 23s team to UCL qualification and silverware is beyond ignorant of how high level this league is. Everyone continues to improve whilst we continue to decline under these clowns. So frustrating to see, is there time to turn it all around yes. Surely we need to see some sort of recognition of the limitations of their current plan and an adaption to bring the some proven quality all over the pitch but most importantly up top. We turned down some good quality players because they didn't fit the supposed recruitment age range we were looking for. Come January we better get it right or we could be facing another long 12 months.

If you look at the squad we have on paper the only reason you'd be concerned about the teams at the top is if you were reading the table upside down.

We need to worry about getting ourselves out the relegation section and comfortably into top 10 before we worry about the top teams.
September 17, 20232 yr This forum and this club is so depressing. My life outside of football is so great yet I can't shake off major disappointment.
September 18, 20232 yr Goals win games. There are not multiple ways to score points to win a match like there are in the NFL. Have our owners learned that yet? A billion spent. Of that billion, only 30mill on strikers to score them for our first team right now, only 38mill in keepers to save them. Since TT our average is what? One goal and one point per game? Carry on like this and they will have a club battling relegation.
September 18, 20232 yr hopefully home fans will start to chant Boehly and Clearke out simply chanting 'what a waste of money' clearly is not enough to tell them to F off Edited September 18, 20232 yr by cfcforeverfan

Try following the club home and away and actually spending money on them then you'll really feel pain instead of moaning about tactics or a dodgy stream.

Wouldn’t be over fussed if things went really bandy and we got relegated. If so would see the departure of Jonny Come Lately glory hunters, who only attached themselves for reflected success. Make this club real again. Btw guarantee if we did get relegated the atmosphere- or non atmosphere we have atm- would improve. In terms of fan power, this club is a shell of what it used to be. You've won best comeback member of the forum lad @Soulboy then @Ewell CFC and now @Fruit Bat leopard can't change it's spots once a big mouth middle class Tory etc at @Valerie I wouldn't meet up with him like he suggested in the vintage section especially as it was a row with you where he was being his obnoxious self that got him banned.

I do follow the club (not as much as I used to) but I've spent 10s of thousands following Chelsea for 15+ years.

So in your view the players we have (age bracket 18-22) won't improve and the team can't improve so we need to sell and buy? Reminder to you Raheem Sterling at 28 is at his peak age. Sterling is also showing that IMO.

You look at the squad and there are no recognized goal scorers anywhere, apart from Nkunku but he is injured until January. We can show off every single metric under the sun that points to us progressively improving, but the most important metric in football is goals scored. We lack it. From everywhere. It's a squad solely built on potential. Mudryk, Jackson, Madueke, and Palmer, aren't established goal scorers atm. Sterling is a notorious chance waster. There are no goals from midfield apart from Gallagher but he too turns brain dead in the final third. So when you say, can we work with what we have, my question is, work to what? A top 4 finish? Top half? Because atm this squad isn't capable of achieving anything right now, and we don't know if they ever will. It's a huge gamble.
