Chelsea to consider move for Steve Holland if they hand Maurizio Sarri the sack next week. #CFC (Telegraph)

Like Steve Holland and he's a popular guy but would he be another one who's a great No 2 but not necessarily make a good manager. There's a growing list of them - Steve McClaren, Paul Clement, Zola, Rene Meulensteen, Roy Keane and so on.

I completely agree with you, Nibs.

And anyway I doubt he'd leave the England setup right now, he has a good thing going on there.

He won't have to.

Yeah, he's on a cushy number there. Doesn't strike me as someone who loves the limelight so why would you go from that nice job - well paid, get to go and watch all the games you want, no real pressure as that is what Southgate is there for............to go to CFC where you'll be under constant scrutiny and sacked before you've got round to putting the picture of the Mrs and kids up on the office wall!!

Because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity he may never get again.

Furthermore any managers who don't take a huge job for fear of getting sacked probably won't be cut out for the top level.

Think Sarri showed (albeit a little) a side of him that he is willing to change tactics a little bit and play around with the players/formation

Does the transfer ban increase or decrease job security for Sarri? Surely it only increases it.

Does nothing. How we buy/sell players in 15 months is irrelevant

What about Southgate if we agree to bring through the youth players, could bring in Steve Holland with him and also do the England job.

Don't expect to win anything but a year down the line we have a young experienced squad ready to challenge under new reigns.

Always a question Nibs but in my view he is a guy who knows the squad, knows the youth, gets Chelsea and can get the best from the team. At least in the short term that's what we need. Someone who will not impose ideology but work with the squad as it is to improve it.

On a related note. Dom Fifield and Matt Law carrying the same story is usually a sign of a club sourced leak.

Interesting they are both carrying the story independently.

the ban will get appealed to CAS, meaning we must have some confidence we can overturn it.   Appeal then suspends the ban for 1 or 2 windows, definitely this summer at a minimum.  New manager therefore, would have the opportunity to buy and sell.  So does little change for Sarri

I doubt it will get overturned. We will appeal because we can, not because it will succeed. The best we can hope for is delaying it until after this summer, and then hoping it is reduced to a single window, but 29 offences makes it very unlikely we will get away without any ban at all.

I agree I dont think it will have much of an impact on whether sarri keeps his job though.

I hope we see changes and tweaks today.  I fear we wont, infact i probably know we wont.  I don't think we will lose badly, i think itll be a close 2-1 to the winner.  I am not writing us off

My main gripe with Sarri is his belief that any defeat is not his system, or tactics, it's mentality.  Come on, shoulder some blame ffs.  It's almost bordering on delusion.  I detest the "sarriball" term, hate it.  I was happy to give him a chance, as we all were i guess, but it is just not working.  He has been found out, and wont adapt to combat it as i said before.  When that happens, you are heading one way....down.  Malmo were rank bad (still in pre season) so beating them was never in doubt, but anyone with a tad of quality would beat us right now.   We were lucky to draw Malmo tbh, Sevilla or Valencia would have beaten us easily first leg with the way we played

If we lose today though, i dont know if Sarri will get the opportunity to manage us v Spurs and/or try something new

Yeh but think of it, this started with 100 cases, 71 got thrown out. Call me naive but if 71 of 100 were ok, i reckon the other 29 have a good chance.  The club are adamant a lot of them were trials and therefore cannot be ruled upon.  The FA ratified the deals as ok, so they're in on this. The FA will want to get let off, so I assume they'll back us up that all deals were done correctly, we claim to have evidence to show they were done correctly.  I think it'll at least get reduced to a single window.

The minimum we expect is that it will be delayed until after this summer.

That isn't a decision FIFA makes. It's just the nature of the legal system. We will still be appealing by the time the summer comes around.

Barca, Real, and Atletico had similar issues with the Spanish fa. Most of Atletico's cases were Chinese trialist. Real and Barcelona had fewer cases than us. All bans were upheld except Madrid which was reduced to a single window.

Can't see it being successful myself.

With have to sack this c***. He’s been a train wreck. Sack him for no other reason than last Monday FA Cup holders 0-2 down with 10 minutes to go and he subs a defender for a defender:redcard: The guy is a clueless Ciggy Butt chewing tosses. Should have been Sacked Monday Night.Today will be another humiliation best I think we might get is a 0-3 defeat but could be more.
