I really wanted shot of him after the United game, he appeared unwilling to alter his way of playing despite us getting beat with ease of late.

However, the City and Spurs games will have granted him a stay of execution I think, I also agree with that. He’s shown he is willing to change and adapt which was my biggest gripe with him. I won’t start singing his praises too soon, let’s see how he does over the next month and if he continues to do it. I seen an interview he done with sky in the last couple of days where he said he needed to adopt an ‘English mentality’ and be more adaptable to the league and football which can only be a positive.

The big thing for the club to decide I suppose is how badly they want the youth integrated, as I don’t think Sarri is the right man for that.

I hate to see Claudio mentioned in the same breath as those two frauds! Still have a soft spot for him, despite him racking up severance fees :blush2:

When Sarri took the job he was apparently advised by Pep to limit to 14 players those who would be seriously coached in the new style. Apparently Pep blames his first unimpressive year for having bitten off more than he could chew. Make of it what you will but Sarri has shown a stubbornness - not always wise - in sticking rigidly to a plan.

Still don't think he's the right person in the long term, but credit where it's due our form has picked up since the Manchester United FA Cup loss.

Barring exceptional circumstances, it's probably best to keep him until the end of the season and re-assess at that time.

Andy where do you get the players running distance from?

I ask as that would appear to be a guide as to whether the players are really trying.

Chelsea TV immediately after the match. I tried to find them on the net myself and couldn't.

Cundy and Wee Pat were saying that it was unusual for a player to run over 10k in a match and every starting outfield player excluding one had done that. They ran their socks off!

I didn't get the stats for the Fulham game but I would be very surprised if they did the same.

Interesting:

“I feel the same as before, but happier because the results are positive," Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.

"When everyone talked about my dismissal, I was talking with the club to plan the team for next season, so I was always relaxed.”

heres there till the end of the season..then negotiates the cheque..he doesnt even look like he likes london

Doubt it, he's just done an interview talking about how he's in discussions with the board planning for next season.

“I have not seen a player of 18 at the top, Callum Hudson-Odoi the same as others needs to improve. It is very important that, and then he will be able to be at the top when he is 22 or 23. You put too much pressure on the English young players.”

He needs to start playing players on merit & stop using the age excuse. The Ajax team that destroyed Madrid last night had an average age of 24yrs, with 6 players under 23.

Pele won the World Cup at 17 and scored 2 goals in the final!!!

That's ridiculous, I was reading about England's World Cup win and they said that if the Bulgarians never injured Pele in the group stages there's no doubt that Brazil would've had another World Cup in their hands, almost every World Cup Pele played in he won except that one because of the injury.

Wayne Rooney? Michael Owen? Beckham? Gerrard? Lampard? Joe Cole?

Just a few English players who broke through around the age 18 and immediately looked quality.

Just feels like Sarri reels off an endless stream of excuses for not playing Hudson_Odoi. Don't get me wrong, I understand not wanting to weigh down CHO with the burden of expectation but there's a difference between pinning all our hopes on him and giving him a fair share of minutes in a team lacking end product in the final third.

What ever happened to him? Must of been a one season wonder!

How can someone score 1100 odd goals?

50 a season from 17 years old to 37 = 1000.

Have a look at him dribbling past players on rock hard pitched with the ball bouncing around everywhere. We could do with one of him at the moment.

Nearly half of his goals were from unofficial freindlies with the other half coming in the Brazilian league where they have wingers playing full back.

Messi and Ronaldo have both eclipsed Pele for the 'greatest footballer' title.

Ray Wilkins remember watching him come on for his Chelsea debut 1973, aged 17

As great as Messi and Ronaldo are, that is quite a bold statement. Pele won 3 World Cups with Brazil and contributed a large number of goals to help them win on each occasion. Remind me how many World Cups Messi and Ronaldo have managed ?

That's your opinion, but it goes completely against the popular choice in almost every poll you care to find, even the most recent ones. I know your'e not old enough to have been around when Pele was still playing, and have probably judged him on a few grainy videos, so i understand why you assume he's been 'eclipsed'.

Lets be honest, Pele won 2 world cups. He barely played in the '62 world cup and at each tournament he was outshone by one of his countrymen.

The bloke used to knock 8 past Botafogo Ribeirao Preto to boost his numbers. Its the popular choice to just say Pele is the greatest, but when you compare the level he played at and his actual numbers Messi and Ronaldo are much more impressive.
