Using gusto or cucu when he needs a fk load of running intead of James til fully fit... ...and he STILL gets injured! I really feel sorry for him but I also think the warm weather will do him good. Maybe. That would be down to Reece though. If the medical professionals advise him a warmer climate would help his career then he would need to ask for the move. I don't think he is one on the owners chopping block for some reason.
November 21, 20241 yr Really sad state of affairs. Even if this is just the club being over precautious, it isn’t sustainable to persist with this long term. Josh needs to be integrated short term to provide some Gusto cover till the end of the year. If Reece can find some frequency of game time then great but if not it would be best for everyone to find a different solution.

I mean its fine for now, the back up option is to have 3 CBs with Fofana being the outside right CB. But then if Fofana gets injured we are really screwed. We honestly may need 2 additional CBs next season.

November 21, 20241 yr Maresca has been clearly he wanted to use Josh in the LC vs Barrow and in the ECL, but the club will not allow him to be used until he signs a new deal. So he is not an option.
November 21, 20241 yr I mean if he leaves, he leaves. Least Gilchrist is doing very well at Sheffield United this season. They may get promoted.
November 21, 20241 yr It’s happened again. To nobody's surprise. Reece James is injured, and honestly, it’s gutting. He’s one of our own and captain, and yet it feels like every time we start to get excited about him leading this team, he’s out again. We simply cannot rely on him when his body keeps letting him down. Reece is such a talented player, someone who gives his all every time he’s on the pitch, but his body is broken. You can’t help but feel for him too. Imagine being in his shoes, constantly having to start over, trying to get back to full fitness while the team moves on without you. It’s not just hard physically but mentally too. What’s the solution here? This cant continue.
November 21, 20241 yr 232 games missed through injury up to this point, 9 hamstring injuries. One of the highest earners, contract till 2028. This situation is a mind f**k for the club and himself all round.
November 21, 20241 yr No problem with the club or player being super cautious. Fingers crossed it isnt one injury that leads to another.

November 21, 20241 yr As horrible as it sounds is anyone else just like, not really feel anything? I accepted the Reece James situation years ago, I knew it was only matter of time before he's out again. He's done as a player, it's simple as that.
November 21, 20241 yr It’s very sad, but I think he has next to no chance of making it back to regular top flight (or perhaps even any flight) football. And he also must have virtually no transfer value now either. So probably a couple more years with us of surgeries, rehabilitation and reoccurrences before finally calling it quits. That’s my guess anyway. A real tragedy for Reece.

If Reece goes down with his hamstrings again then we need to bring in another right back to compete with Gusto, and expect Reece to only manage 10 to 15 games a season. If he can only manage 10/15 games a season he isn’t worth the money nor a place within the squad. Harsh, but my opinion.
November 21, 20241 yr He’s just put a few stories up on instagram, one with a statement of thanks to those who are supporting him and saying he’s got another challenge ahead. Doesnt read as someone who thinks they’re back next weekend

November 21, 20241 yr I always felt RLC would be the biggest ‘what if’ we’d have as fans with a player that was devastated by injuries but Reece is unfortunately taking the prize there. When fit, when properly healthy, he’s Top 3 in his position in the world, it’s just that hasn’t been for 2-3 years now and with how often this is recurring never will again.

Well the club screwed up with this one & I can’t blame him. When you have 5-6 CBs, & 2 RBs ahead of you, he will be mad to sign a 7yr contract. They should have sold both Badiashile & Disasi in the summer when Madrid & Newcastle were sniffing around Josh to show there is a path for him.
November 22, 20241 yr Guy needs to move. Either we're the problem or he's the problem. But he's never going to have a career here. Unfortunately his bumper wages might block him from doing that. I had that opinion a few weeks ago and got slated. Fact is I really like him and want him to have a career, the only chance he does is if he moves to a different league.
November 22, 20241 yr Such a shame that Reece is injured again, hopefully it is just a minor one. In term of moving him, honestly this is not the time. Reece contract is not movable, he will just end up in bomb squad with chilwell n carney.
November 22, 20241 yr Sadly it looks like perhaps the only way he might have a football career is by moving to a sunnier climate that might help reduce how prone he is to injuries, but even then a huge risk for the buying club. He'd probably have to take a huge wage cut to facilitate such a move. Depends how much he wants to play football I guess ...
November 22, 20241 yr Lets see if it is just the club being extra precautionary or whether this is another 3 month stint on the sidelines. I'll reserve judgement for 2 weeks time.
November 22, 20241 yr His insta post doesn’t read like someone who is back next week he’s missed over 230 games that’s a lot of money in wages. Think the club and him need to part ways now he would of been a great but just can’t see it now. Needs to move to a warmer climate for his sake.
