October 17, 20223 yr Probably should have signed Clauss or someone else cheap as back up for Reece in the Summer to operate wing back. Reece's injury problems have been there from the start, always going to miss 1/3 of a season somewhere.
October 18, 20223 yr What about Dujon Sterling? It is unlikely we would recall a loan prospect, but he is highly rated and just wonder if he should be in our squad getting minutes. Massive step, but probably better than the other Sterling at WB! Also, not to cast doubt, but I have a terrible feeling Reece will need surgery, and the current path is his best attempt to play at the WC (which I do not fault him for). That would have been our best option in terms of price but he did want to be a back up, where with Marseille he is playing every game and also in the UCL.
October 18, 20223 yr Gutted to lose Reece. I've watched Dujon Sterling a few times and he could be somewhat of an answer. Probably his one chance to grab by the horns and get into the Chelsea XI.
October 19, 20223 yr Luckily there is the World Cup coming. He won't miss that many games. We are quite lost without him.
October 20, 20223 yr Yeah we did not need to sign a competent back up for him like we did for Ben, we have Ruben and Raheem for that...lol...
October 22, 20223 yr Reece would have created a few more chance for us today, but doubtful we'd have converted them.
October 22, 20223 yr Is odd the timing though eh? 3 games without Reece, 3 times we are poor and second best.
November 4, 20223 yr I hate to say this, but have a bad feeling James' injury may keep him out longer (i.e., doesn't make the WC, or does, but still requires surgery in new year)
November 5, 20223 yr Seen it reported Southgate will be taking him to the world cup as his recovery is ahead of schedule. What could possibly go wrong?

I would like to see it built in to players contracts that, if they are injured playing for their national sides, they recieved a retainer of say 1% of their salary from the club until they are fit to play for their club again and they can seek the rest from the national FA, who should also pay for medical bills.

I seem to remember something about clubs wing able to claim money either from the FA directly or through insurance if a player is injured on international duty. It still doesn’t make up for it having one of the best players in the country available mind.
