Such a dumb decision if so, England has an abundance of RB. No need to jeopardize a player's career

It’s his dream to play for England at major tournaments, it’s a risk Reece is going to take no matter what.

Swear the reaction on here would make it seem like being recruited for the army 😅 it’s all on Reece wanting to go not England as ‘the bad guys’. That’s how it is, I mean look at Maddison.. totally heart broken for not being in the England team, that’s what it means.

The players can want to go all they want, it's the coach of the national team that can decide if they go or not.

It's not like I don't get the feeling of wanting to go to the World Cup but it's way better for his career to sit this one out to rest and recover properly.

So many young English kids have had their careers fizzled out because of rushing themselves back from injury

That's good because I'm 100% sure Reece would have tried to force it.

That said I'm also worried he may be mentally low for quite a while due to this which will also have a negative effect on performance so this is a bit of a lose lose all round unfortuently.

Team England can easily fix that by being woeful and not make it past the group stage. That should benefit Chilwell too!

Would you be happy with James rushing himself back if we were in a CL final?

At least Southgate is gone after this tournament.

Reece should be going even if he's only fit for the knock out rounds. What's the point in taking someone like Coady who clearly isn't good enough for minutes at that level.

Confirmed. Reece has been told by Southgate he is not going to be in the squad, and Reece was willing to risk reinjuring himself again to play at the WC:

Interesting developments now on social media, Reece liking that Paul Merson post regarding his selection and now replying to Ivan Toney’s post with the Mourinho quote  “if I speak I’m in big trouble”. Hope he doesn’t burn his bridges, FA are definitely mad enough to extend Southgates deal.

Don't tell me Reece has got the hump because he didn't get selected due to an injury? Hopefully he's smarter than that.

James has developed into a great player for us yet at the same time he is often frequently missing many games.

I fear he may have a short career and of course hope I am wrong.

He's top heavy, so his legs are prone to injuries. Add the fact he loves lunging into challenges, so he needs to learn to 'master' his body.

He certainly carries a lot of upper body muscle though not sure if he would change or see that as a factor.

Also if he cuts our calories he might lose that leg strength before losing upper body muscle.

Really disappointing to see him go off. Good he walked off without help, but the look in his face said it all - my assumption (and I hope I am very wrong) is a repeat and setback. Hopefully minor

Said to my dad at kick off, I wonder how long he'd last before going off injured. 50 minutes I think it was.

Hasn't played a full game in his recovery yet and then thrown in to start in the PL. Stupid.

Yeah I don't want to be negative after a win but that was a junior mistake from Potter.
It's so odd because he said this just yesterday which was sensible but then he's just thrown straight into it today.

‘The plan now is to try and help him play his minutes and the next challenge is building them up in the Premier League, which is not an ideal place to do that but he’s got the capacity to do it.

‘We just need to be clear and careful with the minutes that he plays but I’m confident that the more football he plays, the more we’ll see what a fantastic player he is.’

Questions have to be asked of our medical team and the decisions being made by them and the management. We get so many injuries, and several are reoccurring now, in players that are obviously being brought back before their bodies are ready.
