Reece James

Featured Replies

Hopefully he learns from this. It was a bone headed tackle that got him injured. There was no need going for a tackle around a player.. James has to learn that he is not a machine.  To make things worse he stayed back in Milan to go site seeing the day after the match instead of jetting back to England. I guess he has more off days to do stupid sh*t

No wonder Bohley sacked some of the medical team given we’ve got the worst injury record in the league.

So I suppose we’re stuck with RLC or Azpi at RB/WB now. That feels long and painful. I thought Cucurella was quite good with his right foot?

It’s always been a concern with Reece. He’s built like a tank and when youre running and turning at the pace he does with that much weight behind him it doesnt bode well.

Think it is clear where his focus is on in the above.

if Southgate wants him to go I would not be surprised if Reece goes using painkilling injections.

Hope not…he’ll end up like Dean Ashton/Kieren Dyer.

James has not made more than 25 starts for us in the league yet.

The only good thing is a lot of his time out will be in the world cup weeks.

We need to get another player that can cover this position better than current options.

Walker-Peters from Southampton

I'm thinking more for Reece's perspective.

I'd say he should take his time. I'd rather him miss 10wks of football than rush back for us or the WC. We need him properly fit

The thing is though, he'd have probably been looking forward to this for months especially when it started to become obvious he would be starting in the tournament.

I was actually in a similar position to him a while back where I got injured a month before a trip (that involved hitchhiking, camping etc) I was looking forward too for the best part of a year. Despite family and friends pleading with me not to go as I was 60% fit and told by doctors I had to take it easy for 3 months I went anyway because in my head missing out wasn't an option.

So as much as from a Chelsea perspective I want him to say f**k it and focus on a recovery in two months I can't say I blame him if (as appears likely) he's trying to make the WC come hell or high water.

At one time we had probably one  of the best medical teams out there. Recently looking at our recovery times and amount of injuries not so good. Todd recently had a change and now we seem to be even worse. Don’t know why, but to let an injured player stay over and then come home alone on a budget airline is really odd.

I wouldn't be surprised if James goes to the world cup, but I am almost certain it will do him no good. If he plays, he won't be anywhere near his best and when he returns, he will probably be figthing for form for the rest of the season.

I can't think of any player that has gotten a serious injury weeks before an international tournament starts and played at anywhere near their best by forcing themselves to return earlier than they should.

I hope he doesn't. He should look to keep himself healthy on the long term and he already did get injured last season as well.

I agree, but the only thing that will stop him is his body. It's impossible to talk a player out of playing in the World Cup.

I'd be slightly surprised, but can see Southgate making that stupid decision. James won't be ready to play at a top level until January.

Southgate should take Ruben if he stays fit for the next month. He'd be the ideal option

James Justin from Leicester can play both sides I think

As a matter of interest, did you have any scouse friends that wanted to let everyone know that Trent could go hitchhiking just as well as if not better than you.

it was very telling that Klopp didn't play Trent today and when he came on for the last 5 minutes he wasn't a RB but more like a RWB in a back 5

finally Liverpool win 2 games in a row and guess which player didn't play in both those games?

“In terms of his involvement in the World Cup, I don’t know. It will depend on how he recovers. He will give everything. I’m sure he will. But he is in a brace for four weeks and that slows everything down.”

“[He] will be in a brace for four weeks. That’s all I know the next four weeks look like for him and that has implications in terms of what he needs to do to get fit from there but our job is just to help him in the short term now and get him back.”

I actually meant to say hiking, f**k knows why i posted 'hitchhiking' :laugh2: (although we did it a couple of times).

IMO even if he does recover and ends up in Qatar, just cause of the lack of playtime he shouldn't be starting the first match, it's against Iran which should be a comfortable win.

Southgate should give him then some 20 minutes against USA and if all goes well he can start in the last group match vs Wales. No need to rush him in the group stage, this could be a good scenario and James would be fresh for the knockouts.

Can blame Mourinho for bullying Eva out the club for this one, doubt she would have let Reece stay on
