We can forget the dream of the youngsters coming in if we got Allegri. Odoi may be okay because of the games he's got already but James, Ampadu, Mount? Forget it. Sarri is playing Odoi and Loftus more than Mourinho, Conte would have done and more than any pragmatic win now manager will.

Exactly

You claimed "stature" for Chelsea because we won a lot of silverware in the past 20 years. As Liverpool supporters are claiming a special status as well for their past glories, I'd say you were quite similar. Although the memory of winning prizes is sweet, it's not continued success as you call it, not any more. I don't have any numbers ready, but at the top of my head, of the teams above us, only Spurs haven't spent big (and when they did spend their Bale money, that didn't exactly win them glory). The other top 5 or 6 clubs are hardly stingy. All that money being spent on our squad is what's keeping us from sliding into mid-table, and not a reason per se why we 'should' be considered a top club, being title contenders season after season.

Football is a cyclical, and we're starting to struggle to hold on to the top 4 (or 5 or 6 even), and it may get even harder. I'm proud of our accomplishments, and I would still be proud of Chelsea without them. I couldn't care less about stature.

Well it looks like we are a small club in fulham....

Whether you care about stature or not isn’t really relevant.

You keep talking about Liverpool but surely you can see a massive difference between a club that talks about history having not won the title in 30 years compared to one that’s won it 5 times in the last 14 years?

I mean if that’s not continued success what is? Even last season we won a trophy. Without checking we won something like 15 trophies in as many years, what other definition of continued success is there?

I’m not talking about spending this season in isolation I’m talking about since Roman bought the club and elevated the club. In the last 8 years only Manchester City have spent more than us on transfers. Spurs and Arsenal have spent less than half what we have in that same period and yet we find ourselves behind them?

That’s why I think we should be competing and not through some misguided sense of entitlement that you’re accusing me of having.

You keep going on about how all the money we spent in the past years should not land us in a position behind other clubs that spent less. In the Abramovich years we have been accused of buying success, we always replied you can't buy success and pointed to clubs that had spent a fortune and yet not win anything. And here you are, saying all the money we spent should have put us in a better league position. That is what I mean with entitlement: we 'should' this, we 'should' that.

I think we're seeing tbe start of a few lean years. It happens to practically all clubs, so we're not that different from Liverpool, who are now in the ascendency again. Their wilderness years were spent looking at the past, droning on about how marvellous they are., and what a big club. I'm seeing that in your posts too.

If I invest a lot of money into my home. Spending money on the garden, replacing windows, decorating etc. I should expect my home to improve especially in comparison to my neighbour who isn’t investing money into home improvements.

Otherwise why bother investing in my home in the first place?

However, if I stop investing in my home and neglect maintaining it but expect it to be in better condition than my neighbours (who are now investing in their own homes) then that would make me entitled.

In other words it’s apples and oranges comparing my opinion on where our club should be to Liverpool fans speaking about history. We’ve won the title a couple of years ago, we’ve continued to invest in the squad but despite this we’ve gone backwards and it’s not “just because” it’s because we’ve not managed ourselves properly both on and off the pitch.

If clubs are spending less than us but are better positioned than we are shouldn’t we be asking the question why? Rather than just accepting it as one of those things.

And what's wrong with buying success,

Real madrid have done it for years

Your home is not a brand, it's bricks and mortar, you can invest in an extension or new kitchen and see it's value increase overnight, but when you invest in a brand you have to wait longer for an increase on your return, not a good analogy.

Playing staff aren’t a brand. They’re an investment, like a new extension, to improve on what you already have.

Not a good counter argument.

Facebook was investing millions from 2004, and didn't float on the markets till 2012, that's 8 years of investing in the brand without any return.

Crap analogies must run in the family.

How can anyone defend Sarri and want him to stay at our club. That second half showed everything that’s wrong about him. What do you think that half time team talk would of been like in Jose or Contes reign?? Burnley are 15th it doesn’t take a top manager to work out if you move the ball quicker they wouldn’t of coped with us.  Terrible manager terrible tactics has to go and should of done months ago.

He’s playing them because of the pressure from the fans/the media and the fact that the alternatives are absolutely hoaching. It’s RLC or Barkley/Kovacic. It’s Odoi or an aging and declining Pedro/Willian. It’s not some vast commitment to youth in my opinion.

There feels like a big air of inevitability with the way this season is ending. I would love to be proven wrong but I suspect we will finish 5th/6th, and get knocked out of the Europa with a fizzle. We are lacking in inspiration most of the time.

I am 99% certain under Jose and Conte we have drawn against teams turning up and parking the bus for 45 minutes...!!! Oh wait, I know I am. Because Jose made that phrase up when West Ham did it to us.

We are playing much better football than 2 months ago but today we made 2 awful defensive mistakes. Burnley then put 10 men behind the ball and we couldn't break them down - we came close! A lot closer than we would under Conte. It happens and will happen under any manager you fancy turning up next year in his place.

The moment a chelsea fan tells me who they want to replace Sarri with that isn't a manager who needs 2-3 years to instill a system (as those fans don't want Sarri to do this here),then I will stop defending Sarri.

"What do you think that half time team talk would of been like in Jose or Contes reign"

Is this the same Jose Mourinho that led us to 16th place in the table and Conte who had a very similar draw last season against Huddersfield?

9 shots on target today. NINE. It's not Sarri's fault that we don't get 3 goals from 9 shots on target. And the comment about moving the ball fast? That's literally what Sarri ball is.What possession based football, but we don't move the ball fast enough. But Sarri out!1!1!1

Well yet again no masterful tactical switch that changes a match into our favour. Today he was hampered by injuries but his final like for like switch just played right into the oppositions gameplan. Sarri's play is one dimensional, if plan A  doesn't work, pray to St Jude...its never worked for me either!

This is literally your argument for defending Sarri every single time anyone criticised him. Sarri is not the man to rebuild us, look at the signings he’s brought in. He wanted Jorginho and he wanted Higuain and they’ve both been sh*te. Why on Earth should the club trust him with another 7 or 8 signings to find we’ve spent hundreds of millions on more dud players.

In answer to your question, we need a director of football who has a proven track record of signing good players. Then they need to be involved in the selection process of the new manager. If we’re honest - we should be able to attract any manager out there outside of the ones at the likes of Bayern, City, etc.

Except we make awful defensive mistakes all the time. How long does it take to learn how to mark players when defending set pieces? The last time we ourselves scored from a corner was probably months ago. Time and again we've had a chance to stake a claim as a top four side and we failed. Again. And again. And again. Now we can't beat f**king Burnley at home.

Gutless, toothless, cluless.
