If you thought he was hired to get wins you must be braindead.

We needed Potter gone as he was given ample time and just making us worse each game. Lamps came in and after the first 3 or 4 games stuck to giving the youth players minutes and steadying the ship ready for Pochettino to come in. Madueke barely got a sniff before Lamps, after he came in he was one of our best attackers and now we're excited to see him next season. Same with Hall and Carney.

Lamps basically killed his managerial career to come and help us out one last time, he'd do anything for the club. Biggest Chelsea legend there is with JT and Didier.

Twice he's taken the job when no one else would, I have infinite respect for him

Can't believe the amount of kids that try to belittle him when he's always put Chelsea first before what's actually best for his career. Especially his second stint when any manager was digging their own grave for those last two months.

That all stopped when the club decided he wasn’t deserving off a better contract, yet they’ll bring players in from abroad on 8 years terms and top weekly wages.

He was offered a "better contract" by both regimes and repeatedly turned it down.

This is thing base on whats coming from journalists he was offered vastly improved terms and rejected them all, so he clearly either believes he is worth more or just doesn’t want to play for Chelsea anymore.

- Man United to put in take-it-or-leave-it type £55m/£60m offer for Mason Mount,
- Chelsea will at least need to have dialogue to cash in,
- Mount unwilling to renew despite Pochettino's arrival, willing to walk for free next summer:

There’s growing confidence around both Man United and Mason Mount side to get the deal done, waiting for Chelsea’s position on final bid. 🔴 #MUFC

All parties being flexible and Mount not signing new deal at Chelsea, two crucial factors to get it done.

Matt Law saying it’s £55m in total.

“Manchester United are expected to made a new bid of £50m plus £5m in add ons for Mason Mount today. Chelsea’s valuation has come down to £65m but there will surely be a temptation to find an agreement from there #cfc #mufc”

I know he wasnt hired to get wins, but people weren't expecting for him to come in and lose almost every game were they? use your head.

We were actually making slow progress under potter, we were playing well in most games but just couldnt finish or score leading to us doing bad results wise...

Lampard giving these players chances? LMAO he just played his usual favourites and most the players we wanted to see were just rotting on the bench! Just wanted to play the likes of gallagher and havertz every game whilst people like Carney, D Fofana etc were all just on the bench not getting a single minute

Lamps is a little nepo baby who will still somehow get another prem job despite how shocking he is as a manager anyway, so that last part is irrelevant. JT and Didier are bigger legends in my eyes as they didnt soil their rep by going to a rival (lamps to man city) and then coming in and doing a dreadful managerial job.

Lampard the player is NOT the same as lampard the manager - remember that

55m for a 24 year old that has already won the CL, while West Ham is about to get 100m for Rice that hasn't done anything in his career. Where is Marina when you need her...

if we can afford to, I would reject it, as it's below our valuation! show we set prices for a reason and can't be bullied

Man Utd clearly don't value him enough, so I think he would sign up to Pochettino once season kicks off

That's a no for me Bob.

60mill plus add ons is as low as I think we should go. United are loaded, we don't need to be selling to them on the cheap.

defensive midfielders are hard to come by than attacking ones, also rice has 2 years left on contract I believe (1+1 optional) whereas Mount runs out next year.

We should be lucky we're likely not gonna lose him for free in a years time

£60m minimum or nothing for me. But we will see what the board decides. If ManU doesn't come up with the price and Mount's happy to walk on a free next season, so should we be happy to let him be training pal of Lukaku and don't sniff Stamford Bridge's grass for the whole season.

Agreed. We do have to let lessons be learned from this imo or we will just keep getting pushed around as we would have shown we cave.

How we deal with Mount and Lukaku us key to setting us up as a club to deal with seriously, or not.

We were losing every game before, the team was so incredibly broekn that any manager was losing most of them.

We were making zero progress at all under Potter, this revisionism that he was making progress is a complete lie. Go back and read any of the last 150 pages of the Graham Potter thread and 95% os posters were in agreement that it was time for him to go and we were getting worse. Not a single message from you in the last 80 pages either saying progress was being made and he should have been kept.

42% of Chukwuemeka's minutes this season came under Lamps, with Lamps giving him the longest time on the pitch in a game against United. 47% of Lewis Hall's minutes came under Lampard with 3 out of 4 of his full 90's coming under Lamps. 66% of Madueke's minutes came under Lampard and was the only manager to give him more than 70 minutes on the pitch doing so on 5 occasions. Datro Fofana is the only one who didn't get a look in and even Potter only played him twice.

The fact you can happily abuse a player of Lampard's stature shows what kind of 'fan' you are. Lampard came to us when we needed him more than he needed us and put his managerial career on the line for us and you act like we gave him a golden platter. Lampard signed for New York City after WE didn't extend his contract. What did you want him to do, retire? JT went to Villa too, i'm sure he would have taken a playing role at a Prem club too if one was offered.

Lampard the player quite literally is the same as Lampard the manager by the way - its a biological fact. Your childish behaviour won't change that. In all my years on this forum i've never seen a poster miss with so many of his opinions. Good job.

Majority of the posters in here dont understand football or the technicalities of it. They only understand passion shown and kilometers ran so id rather not take their word for it. I watched all the potter games and in a lot of them we dominated, including champions league games against dortmund and in the group stages against AC milan.

Potters last few games for us:
L Chelsea 0-2 Villa - 2.16-0.92 xG in our favour
L Chelsea 2-2 Everton - 2.37-1.27 xG in our favour
W Chelsea 3-1 Leicester
W Chelsea 2-0 Dortmund
W Chelsea 1-0 Leeds

So clearly we were doing somewhat okay? Even the games we lost, we actually dominated them and if we could finish we would have won.

Those % minutes are a moot stat as all those players joined in january, and it would have taken them some time to adjust first as well before they could really play for the side, by which point Potter was already sacked at the beginning of April.

im not abusing lampard, Im just capable of knowing the difference between what he did for us as a player vs his wretched time as a manager. I just dont rate him higher than Terry or Drogba both as a player or a legend of the club. They're the same person biologically, but not in the same capacity. If you've spent years on an online forum only discussing football with people of the same certain demographic then its probably why your opinions and views on football are so out of touch and dated.

I'd push towards the club's suggested £75m now. Club has the leverage to wait to get what they want.

- Havertz, Kovacic, Ziyech, Mendy, Koulibaly, and Kante are now gone which has recouped a lot of funds + freed up a lot of wages. (FFP surely settled now)

- This is the same market where Declan Rice is going for 100m with 2 years remaining on his contract.

A poster that understands football.

In my opinion, Potter should never have been sacked. The club was in disarray with change of ownership, stupid signings and uncertainty.

Tuchel, Potter and Lampard all struggled for results. The situation got worse once Potter was sacked.

As you’ve mentioned, when we were losing, we were still the better team and creating countless chances. Potters tactics worked, but the players failed to finish chances. The club failed Potter by failing to bring in a capable striker.

Fair enough if potter was sacked as at the end of the day, this is a results based business... But if you're plan was to hire lampard as the replacement then I would have honestly just kept potter until the end of the season. Maybe even given him some time the coming season with a proper pre-season and the squad finally sorted by selling all the deadwood.

He clearly is a good manager based on what hes done previously, but this chelsea job was always going to be a mess at first and sadly he ended up being the fall guy. More pressure on Pochettino now though I guess, by the looks of things the squad is going to be very much sorted by the time the season starts and he'll have a full pre season as well.

Not saying im expecting immediate results with Pochettino as these things do take time, but I don't expect us to spend ANY time at all this season in the bottom half of the table.
