I wonder if his insistence on leaving has anything to do with those rumours of us really pissing of Declan Rice's family and scuppering his move here, since they are best friends. Maybe not. But could explain why he is so dead set on leaving, if the club have done something stupid/dodgy.

Have you got a link to the reports? Not saying I don't believe you just I can't find anything anywhere.

And if that's the reason for him leaving screw him, Thiago Silva came here a year after we ruthlessly told his best mate to piss off.

Gutted about this and just can’t really understand a chelsea fan pushing so hard for an exit.

Think him and his dad are all about the £££ personally - otherwise you’d never pick Utd over a Liverpool imo

Apart of me just thinks he wants a change of scenery and like I said in the Havertz thread, can we blame him? It's been up and down ever since he came into the first team. We have had no stability and young players need that unless they are supremely talented and it's very likely the main reason we have gone for Pochettino because of his track record of improving them.

It's easy to blame players for their performances but he's arguably had one good manager during his time here. A lot of things need to go right for young players to do well and we've failed as a club on many occasisons to bring the best out of our signings and academy players in the first team.

We act surprised at Havertz going for a big figure and Mount potentially going for the same with 1 year left on his contract and to me that just goes to show you that clubs feel like there's talent there that's been wasted.

Hardly a change of scenery when he's simply getting up and instead of driving west he is heading north.

Think he and his GF are fully settled in London.

I meant in terms of his career. I know alot of us like to imagine footballers as greedy bastards but some do have aspirations to win things and not to say he can't win more here because he can but we have been unstable the past few years. Though he's about to go to a team which could also become just as unstable regarding the ownership.

Loyalty in football is a bit of a myth and its rare these days. I don't begrudge someone wanting to try something different if his current situation is up in the air. If we also offered him a long term contract like we have our newer signings then I wouldn't sign it either.

Apparently we have told United we expect the same deal for Mason as we got for Kai as we consider Mount more important to our team, as does Pochettino, and he is also going to strengthen a top 4 rival

Mount only has one year left compared to Havertz's 2, and multiple clubs were after Havertz, I'd be surprised if we could get more than 60m

Homegrown and established in the Premier League. Add the fact the club's PR continue to sell the story we want to keep him, It should fetch the same as Havertz.

Then we should not sell. We are not letting him go to Bournemouth or Luton. This is Man United, one of the richest clubs in the world.

Didn't want him to leave as I think he's a very good player but he seems hell bent on leaving unfortunately.

Apparently he has reiterated again today that he will not be signing a new contract at Chelsea.

Might be time to start stepping up the search for a replacement.

I agree that it is sad, but he has done his time and may well be ready for a new challenge. As i say it is sad but in reality it isn't really leaving us in the lurch. He has only played fleetingly throughout last season and it is only due the paucity in quality coming from other players that have prevented them from taking the opportunity that Mason Mount's absence has brought.

There are young players on the books that would now see this as an opportunity particularly if Gallagher and Pulisic have not taken their opportunities during Mount's time on the sidelines. This before we go into the market as well.

And he was my favourite player for a few years. I really thought he was one of us, shows how wrong I was.

I actually can’t believe he’s doing this. He’s doing this to the club that made him what he is now. Why throw your legacy away so quick? Is it really a step up moving to Man Utd?

If it’s true, well you can get f*cked Mount. Arsehole.

It's either sell him now or he walks away for free after stinking the place out for a year, he clearly doesn't want to be here anymore. 60m is good enough given the circumstances

I actually don't think he would, well not on purpose anyway.

It's not in his best interest for 18 months to bad form to turn into 30, doubt any of the big clubs would touch him at the wages he wants at that point.

Harsh. He's been here man and boy. He has been with us since 2005 (2017 as a senior). How many employees spend that length of time with one employer. Its now a millionaire's playground to the point where the money because slightly pointless. But at aged 4o he may well look back on a worthwhile career at Chelsea, man Utd, Real Madrid etc.

Just hope he doesn't come back and bite us on the ar$e.  But even then we'll be more focused on our new heroes and not our ex players.

For his sake he better hope United pay up.

If he has another season like the last, poor form and injuries or just out of the side the top sides may no longer want him or need him.

No, he jumped ship after one bad season and now he / his team are leaking stories to the press to drive price down for Man Utd. That’s not showing the club any respect, he’s put us in a position where we’d have to sell this summer and the longer this goes on for, the better position Man Utd are in.

You can say that about literally any academy player. And I can't think of any academy graduate who's forced a move like this to a Premier League rival because a 200k+ a week offer isn't enough for him.
