Chelsea injuries

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anybody knows why do we have so many injuries. Most of them are actually in training.

There must be something very wrong with either our players or the training or the manner of how we run the game.

Anybody knows the answer ?????

It's got to be Maria's fault somehow.

It seems to me that we've had a lot more injuries in the last two season compared to previous seasons, so my theory is that it's caused by a change in the way we train. I've heard that Conte's training regime was very physically demanding, and presumably Mourinho's would have been somewhat similar, but Sarri and Lampard are said to prefer a more technical and less phyisical style of training. What I'm saying is, maybe the players were just that little bit fitter/stronger under Mourinho's and Sarri's training regimes than they are now.

........or just plain old bad luck ?

Apparently Lampard wants a lot of intensity in his training sessions from what I've heard so that might play into it but it could also be the lack of rotation with the midfield and forwards or just simply bad luck.

Kanté played a lot of football in the past 4 years so it might catching up to him, Tammy played a lot of games in the championship last season and this one as well, Loftus Cheek was avoidable but nothing the coaching staff could do, CHO was bad luck, Willy and Pedro are getting "old ", Rudiger always had a history with his knee and Christensen never seem to adjusted at the physicality of the premier league. It's not like it's the same injury for everyone then I would be worried.

Strangely Azpi has played more games than Kante, though accept Kante may cover more yards on the pitch.

There’s always a regression to the mean when it comes to these things. We had hardly any injuries during our title winning campaigns. Watch, next year we won’t have many injuries at all.

I like your thinking there !

It does seem like we’ve had horrendous luck with injuries to key players for long periods of time. I can’t remember a time when we were so badly ravaged by injuries for such a long period of time. This must be one of the worst seasons injury wise for a long while?

I’m sure the lack of quality squad depth also makes this look a lot worse than it would have in the past but I still can’t think of a time when it was this bad.

Injuries happen. Its not like the club are ignoring fitness or not doing their jobs. Sometimes you just get hit by the injury bug. Some years you get lucky and have a healthy squad the entire season. What needs to happen is the club purchase the right players and not overspend on squad level players. I think they are moving in the right direction and starting to promote from the academy. The transfer ban probably doesn't help in the immediate but I fully believe that it's going to be incredibly beneficial in the long term.

We will get through this spell, they just have to keep fighting every match and supporters need to realize that we are thin in the squad right now, We get CHO, Pulisic, Tammy and Kante back and healthy and we will be fine. The key is to not rush them back so that they continue to re-injure themselves.

Agree with you on the injuries being unfortunate and something we have no control over, don't think many of our development squad will be in our first team beyond this season yet they have been essential in the first part of the season in keeping us in contention.

Hopefully the fans keep supporting to give them a lift.

Apparently there are some concerns about Pulisic within the club. He experienced chronic injury problems whilst at Dortmund and seems to be continuing in that pattern

What's Eva Carneiro doing these days?

i don't know but I would love to see her return to the club. I suspect that would require a big olive branch though

Need to bring back Mike Banks if you ask me. That amazing specimen of a man got Zola to sign a shirt for me at a Kingstonian friendly once upon a time. Whats Eva done for me?

Lampard came ouy and said in the presser today that Ruben had a small calf problem, so will have to play for u23s on Monday, which is, at the least another two weeks out. Callum is hopeful for Sunday. Christian still has a problem, and Tammy is probably out for a little while longer. Very frustrating.

Here we go again.

Muscle injuries are the worst like that. Always vulnerable to reinjury. I wonder if this is in the same leg as CHO did his achilles?

Didn't CHO get injured right after returning from the winter break? Now before he could come back he gets injured again. Perhaps we have an incompetent medical team, or Lamps' training methods need looking into? Or is it CHO who is either injury prone or not disciplined enough to take care of himself?
