Lost count of the amount of 5 yard passes he missed. Not good enough for premier league standards. I hope I'm wrong and over reacting  due to the amount of beer if consumed but I haven't  seen an individual performance that bad since David seamon vs Brazil in 2002. Maybe Bambi will grow but doesn't  look good by tonight's standards. There was a lot of mediocrity out there tonight but he took the biscuit.

Beer Goggle's , that explains it !. Well, I hadn't been impressed by him I must admit, but he was highly rated by all the transfer pundits etc even before we were after him. He seems lost and bewildered out on the pitch though, let's hope he improves..

come on you Blues !

Everton were fantastic. They did the job containing us and trying to hit us on the counter, an excellent night for them.

It obviously hasn’t helped that we didn’t have any wingers available but it is what it is.

I don’t think we had a terrible performance, we just couldn’t break down a defence on a very good day.

We accept the loss and move on.

Good,realistic take on the game.

On another day we could have got a scoreless draw and we call it progress, but wasn't to be. Lampard summoned it up nicely, you can not give a cheap goal away early unless your attack is on song, we were ordinary at both ends. Nobody really stepped up, and we just showed we awe aren't a title challenging team unless we have everyone available. I'd give Mendy a break, although it was a shocking mistake, attacker just love GK coming out with VAR in play, all you need is any contact and it's a penalty. I don't know what's the deal with GKs coming out to play like that these days, it's playing with fire with very little reward. Attack wise, with no natural wide players, we had 3 strikers on and nobody was able to cross a ball or slide a pass in. The midfield is still lacking that killer pass  or goal getter type of player, we just don't have much luxury in that area. Again, Barkley could be that option right? Havetz needs time, and on the wide right is not helping him, of course he should have contributed more. Werner is fast becoming a goal creator instead of scorer running around on the wing. It's the risk we have been talking about since the start, with injuries and lack of depth, you play your big signing striker on the wing, and he will lose that goal scoring touch before you realize it.

Hoping for a quick bounce back in a few days, although it won't be easy if we don't get Pullisic or Ziyech ( even CHO) back . Carlo had the perfect game play against us, and the rest will follow.

How was it even close to last season’s performance?

Taking us back to last season, we couldn’t defend to save our lives plus a terrible keeper. They beat us by a penalty and ensuring we don’t score, even though we came close a few times.

Honestly if we played this fixture last year we would have lost by more than 1 goal.

Because the pattern was similar. They set up to defend and we struggled to break them down. I remember it was an equally frustrating physical game.

Interesting that in F1, Lewis Hamilton only qualified in third in his first Grand Prix back after testing positive for Covid.

Covid has lasting effects ... I am not surprised at what we are seeing from Havertz.

We are going to lose a few games this season. This one was one of them ....

Yes I know personally that it has lasting effects. So why are we starting him?

Agree, it's absolute rubbish.

We still smashed Everton despite missing 3 wingers for this game. They scored due to a stupid mistake from our goalkeeper.

Smashed them really? Last season we also dominated the stats to similar effect. Oh well.

Judging by yesterday, looked like a few of the other players have also come down with it - Werner in particular!

We weren't that bad yesterday but we went back to looking a bit toothless. Everton always looked more threatening on the counter and I said before the game that James being injured for Everon wouldn't be a big miss and in DCL and Richarlison they had the best attacking players on the pitch. Just goes to show we are still learning and need to improve in certain areas. 3 point v Wolves is a must, as they don't look great this season and should be there for the taking, IF some of our players step-up.

All good points. Frankly we always have a winter slump. Looks like it has started early based on the last two features.

Frank being realistic, he saw we weren't at it early doors. Disappointed with our lack of creation.

so why didn't he change things around then? Remember the days when Jose would yank someone off after 20 minutes when he knew he got the line up wrong, or to send a message to the rest of the team....Carlo got the tactics right today, Everton gave us no space and worked hard but IMO Frank wasn't brave enough to make the changes when he needed to...would it have changed the result, I don't know, but at least we would have seen that he recognized the problems and tried to fix it.   A disappointing L one that hopefully he learns from, but we've seen it a few times this season where he makes the substitutions too late for them to have an impact.

Without the rare mistake from Mendy, the game ends 0-0 and it is a decent point away to a pretty good Everton side. I think fatigue is an issue for us too. We still played well in spots, hit the post a couple times.

On a different day, maybe it ends different, but I can't take many negatives, if any away from that game as we've been in good form lately. Can't win them all, and as I say, a rare mistake cost us 3 points yesterday.

I think so, plenty of opportunities to win this game compared to Everton, domianted them on the field. It might sound like I'm being bitter, but I do actually nail this down to injuries more than I do "It just wasn't our day".

And that's probably a good reason why he's been chased out of the last 3 clubs he's managed. It's not as easy as taking a player off like that anymore.

Agreed, it was just "one of those days" which we have suffered plenty times before at Goodison Park and it won't be the last.

The negative for me is how little we troubled such a dodgy keeper, Pickford and I think that's the first clean sheet Everton have kept for about three months but sh*t sometimes happens.

Well he seems to be doing ok with Spurs even after dumping supposedly one of the 'worlds' best in Dele lol!   The way he's got Spurs playing right now, they look like they could win the league and his ego will be bigger than ever.

What's doing well exactly? It's not even halfway through the season and people are getting carried away. In his 2nd season of United they were demolishing teams 5-0 and looked favourites to win it, they then finished nearly 20 points behind City.

I'm not saying it's going to be the case again but people are really jumping the gun on Jose. Give it a few months and Spurs could have about 1 win in 10, you just never know with his sides. I'll judge how good Spurs are around February.

But enough about Jose for a second, I do see your point. He did hook Alonso off after that awful first half against Ajax, that's the only time he's ever done it I believe. But it's really not that easy, to hook a record signing off at halftime, or even before halftime as some were suggesting? That's a big move. We can't pretend media don't have power, that sort of thing will make headlines and raise a talking point for pundits. I'm not saying Frank was right to keep him on, I'm just raising other points here. It's not as simple as taking him off, there's so many factors that affect each and every facet of football. And let's face it, Havertz looks fragile at the moment, from what I'm seeing, taking him off at halftime could seriously hurt his confidence. I can see why Frank would put faith in him to step his game up in the 2nd half, and grow into it.

He took a gamble, it didn't pay off, it is what it is. But who's to say it would've really mattered in the end? We had 0 options to bring on anyway.

Emerson versus Arsenal about a year ago.

Was that when we won 2-1? I can't remember. I do remember Emerson refusing to tactically foul Martinelli though in the 2-2 game. I wish he got hooked then.

Mount, Gilmour and James all subbed at 45min (0-0) against Leicester away in June, for Kovacic, Barkley and Azpilicueta, Barkley scored the winner 0-1.

Nice impartial article on sky about how Carlo got one over on Frank. Really? Lol

One long ball over the top that Mendy made an error for. Yup sure he planned on that happening.

Let's be honest here sky. Everton did not deserve to win that. Pickford had a lick of paint to thank for him being saved twice when beaten and Giroud for missing a very good chance.

What did everton offer? What did Mendy have to do other than catch a few balls and make saves even Kepa would make?

They got lucky, while we played poorly apart for James and Kante.

Thankfully Spurs and Liverpool messed up this weekend too.

I'm pretty sure he's done it a couple of times in the first half....I'll have to do some digging ....anyway the point I was trying to make is that Frank has to be braver with his subs especially if he can see a tactical change is needed....NHL do it all the time..and they yank the goaltender to send a message to the rest of the team.
