I don't agree with the pundits calling that a pen for ATM, it's a contact sport and the contact on carasco was not enough for him to fall to the ground like that.

He realised he wasn't going to get to the ball and flung himself to the ground.

I agree. But plenty of refs would have given that, even with the appalling dive. If the penalty is given then Dave would also get a red card. So it was a really poor from him to first play such a short back pass and then take that risk.

On the other hand Azpilicueta made a clear mistake there. Carrasco made a meal of it and I think that is why it was ruled no foul.

don't agree either - actually think this ref is having a good game (so far); probably do mad things 2nd half now

Probably everyone on here has watched more ball than me.  But it seems like all of our attackers are more suited for an open game than a Spanish National team pass it around a million times game.

it’s hard to be too critical of the results but it seems that CFC is eventually going to need to score more to really compete with the very very elite.  Maybe not though.  They really don’t lose any more.

Azpilicueta's slight touch speaks of his experience, that much he was always allowed to do, IMO that's not a penalty at all.

My thoughts as well. Carrasco was making a meal of it. How was Azpi impeding? A slight tug and Carrasco goes down?

Pathetic diver

Feeling sorry for Celtic is a bannable offence. Not from the forum, from oxygen.

Refs generally give those to be honest. It's not right that they do mind you so fair play to the ref tonight.

Azpilicueta did hold onto him for a split second, but its not enough to pull him back, he only goes down when he realises the balls gone, his legs give way and the yell was deafening, but the ref was not having the dramatics.

That's given as a penalty 9 times out of 10 nowadays, Azpi got lucky in my opinion.

If the ref gives that then we might as well stop watching football.

We're only cautious because of incompetent PL refereeing and Ovrebo

To see this Atletico reminds me of us in 2017/18, never a real threat as soon as we're behind, we went to Barcelona when they had an away goal only to try to counter attack them just as Atletico is doing now with us, clearly a team that we have now is playing the modern game, we have been in control of this tie for 135min now.

Looks crap in slow motion but in real time never a penalty

On the other hand with the penalty if the player took his shot he had a great chance to score, and the contact was knowhere near enough to put him off, so f**k him.

Maybe if the ref was Mike Dean

He goes down like a sack of sh*t, but I think given Azpi's behind him, and it's motivated by his own mistake, it looks like a deliberate attempt to impede, so we're lucky it didn't go to VAR. It's very funny though -- I hate these diving c**ts. I'd like to see some niggly fouls in Suarez go unpunished now.
