Not appointing/using the services of  a Sporting Director during this window seems like a mad decision. There are a couple out of a job, or he could have used Marina and had the final OK/signed off on deals. Seems Tuchel has no pull, and Boehly is learning on the job. Kounde is on €69k/w at Sevilla, Barca have offered €120k/w, and we are offered to double it to €240k/w. Marina was crucified for some of her deals, but this is nuts.

Jules Kounde will join #Chelsea. They are working with Sevilla to 'close the operation', and Kounde wants to travel to London. Agreement almost total. Barcelona have been left out.

Chelsea have sent paperworks to Sevilla for Koundé deal during the night, pushing to get it over the line. Details after bid on Wednesday: £55m deal, 5 year contract. 🚨🔵 #CFC

I think we can safely say that we shouldn’t believe it until it’s officially confirmed. 

Depending on the Ampadu/Colwill development I'd say our backline would be basically set up then - and likely much improved on last years. Maybe a good back-up for LWB would be nice but as a LWB I could see Emerson getting the odd game but without Alonso it's kinda delicate.

Now selling Ziyech to Milan and Timo to Dortmund and getting a nice attacking striker / RW in would be ace. Or Rice..😇

If this guy comes here after all I will naturally support him fully but all this shenanigans with these players this summer leaves a bad taste. And I now cannot wait for Barcelona to massively go bust or probably more likely bankrupting the whole of la liga in forcibly keeping their bloated rotten carcass afloat

If we get him and he plays well all difficulties in the acquisition will quickly be forgiven. IF we get him Boehly will be doing a good job in my opinion. Sterling, Koulibaly Kounde in and Lukaku gone on loan. It could be worse.

But we don't know if that third one could be one of Ampadu / Colwill I think. I don't want to get carried away with Koundé for the time being but I'd think he's the back-up for James as well - would make sense imho. So I agree that we need at least one more top level CB that can deliver immediately. If one of the two mentioned can do that I have no clue. Now with five subs + a wc coming up mid season I can easily see all of them getting a good chunk of minutes anyway. 

What I mostly meant is that imho we would have solved the basic shape of our defense and could shift our focus a little bit more forward. The Raphinha interest made a lot of sense so the question is whether there are alternatives or not. 

The Catalunian separatists have given up, unless something unexpected happens, Jules Kounde is a Chelsea player.
