July 22, 20223 yr We would definitely act classy and give him his wish. However, the way Barcelona have treated us this summer, im not surprised we have a backbone and are for once fighting back. Tuchels said the valuation was a joke basically, yet they got 50+m to throw around at any player we have bid for. Hes a Spain international and our Captain, they can bid the £10m we have asked for. We arent a charity and we definitely wont bend over backwards for a club that has screwed us over all summer. Edited July 22, 20223 yr by Oli

Age bracket, club captains, one year left etc. I guess that means we want 34mill for Dave lol...

He has earned the right to be allowed to go where he chooses, if he is no longer in our plans and we decide or agree to sell him. However if the manager or club decide he is not for sale, he has no such right. He is under a contract he signed. I have no problem with players deciding to move on by not signing a contract extension thereby running down current contract and go where they like and will never give any such player vitriol for doing that. That's about the only time they have genuine leverage and, morally too. After all, they have held up the terms of their contract and owe the club no favours such as not going to a rival, or allowing the club to make money off them by extending and then getting sold for a sum.
July 22, 20223 yr I'd even go as far to say we are too nice to other clubs when we are the selling club hence why Barcelona have had the temerity to f**k us around and hijacking our signings in the classless manner they have gone about it. Especially when you consider they are trying to get two of our players as well. Usually in that situation you would think they would say let's go easy here with the way we are doing this otherwise we might not get Alonso and Azpi, who apparently Xavi would really like in his team. Do you think that angle wouldn't have come up at anytime in discussions amongst Laporta and his team? I bet it would have and the consensus would have been..... it's Chelsea, they won't hold a grudge or punish us by denying their players the move they want. No repercussions to our action let's push on. If I'm Chelsea manager or the one making the decision, hell no Azpi isn't going there. He's professional enough to do his job in the last year of contract and then go there afterwards should he still please but Barcelona should be punished and other clubs sent a message that we will get our pound of flesh if you f**k around with us. July 22, 20223 yr Barcelona have thrown their weight around, unsettled Azpi and expected us to let him go for peanuts because they know he wants to go there. Sod them to be honest, pay what we want or go away, I have sympathy for Dave but we have no reason to bend over for Barca.

Completely fair mate. Barca are annoying a lot of people, TT included.
July 23, 20223 yr At the end of the day, Azpilicueta is a player currently under contract. He has one year left, and unless Barcelona meet our valuation, he'll carry on as a professional for one more season and go there next year. The people who want him out seemingly fall for the rubbish pushed on social media these days that he is somehow a "finished" player when he was solid for us for most of last season up until the sanctions hit, where most of our players stopped caring after the Real Madrid game. I don't blame Tuchel for being pissed at Barcelona when in all likelihood they are getting away with some dodgy financial and player tapping practices with a wink and a nod from La Liga and UEFA. July 23, 20223 yr He's off to Barcelona.. actually I was very positive in the last days but it seems like we've lost another battle vs Barcelona. Let's move on !

July 23, 20223 yr Being widely reported in press that Barca have had offer accepted and Dembele played key role in getting Kounde to choose Barca. Hilarious if true, and all on us for the procrastination.

July 23, 20223 yr Can’t help but laugh can you hahahah. Honestly lads there’s no point in getting stress over it.
July 23, 20223 yr This will actually piss me off. Not necessarily because I think he will be a great signing but for them to nick another player from our clutches whilst bending the financial rules will just anger me.
July 23, 20223 yr Where do they find all those damn moneys to buy yet another player for 50 mil plus? They must be screwed in the long run by selling all these TV-rights and similar stuff
July 23, 20223 yr If this is true and I still haven’t seen one single denial yet on Twitter, this will mess up our transfer plans badly. There’s no way that Tuchel will even think about addressing our attacking problems until he gets a couple of defenders in. The season starts in 2 weeks, it’s not looking good.
July 23, 20223 yr Yeah can’t find anything on Twitter. All gone quiet. Yesterday, everyone was saying it was done.
