From BBC transfer round-up:

Chelsea's Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku, 30, has rejected a second offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal - worth £45m (£39m) a year - as he only wants to leave for Inter Milan. (Gazzetta dello Sport - in Italian)

This one is unlikely to finish well.

Trust us to have a player who is not interested in money FFS

I've never despised a player as much as him,I know over the years there have been many ars*holes but this bloke just eclipses them all,we had better not bow down to the leach.

Hey you got your main account back, nice!

It maybe that he wants to play in the Euros and thinks playing in Italy gives him a better chance than playing in Arabia.

If this is the case expect him to move after the Euros as I don't see him getting to 2026 WC.

Onana being sold so Inter can put an offer in for Lukaku apparently. Don't know why they don't just offer a straight swap deal with us.

My guess would be they don't want to aquire Rom permanently now.

All the talk is loan with option or obligation to buy.

I hope we insist on selling him now

With what we lose with another loan we may as well knock £10m off his asking price and sell elsewhere. Would happily not do business with Inter Milan again.

I think there's something in that. He's 30, not a guaranteed starter anymore. I'd be surprised if they committed to an obligation to buy.

Think this is a lesson learned (although the cause of this issue was not their own doing) from our ownership in doing business with Italian clubs in the state they are currently in and will be for the foreseeable future. Cut all losses and mitigate any possibilities in doing business with them in the future.

Ideally we sell, and at worse a loan deal that covers his transfer fee amortization and wages for another year. In effect that would be 2 of 3 years off the books, given he was with us in season 1.

Doesn’t change the issue that contract years 4&5 are an issue, he isn’t getting any younger, and candidly is just an awful fit and personality. Hopeful we find a permanent fix to move him on.

Wouldn't want that as a blanket rule, if Barella was avaliable I'd want us to be all over it.

The lesson I hope we learn from Lukaku is to stop looking at the top line when it comes to signing players, which is why I wince when I see the "just get a number 9" posts like this disaster didn't happen.

Fit doesnt deserve to feature in any conversation about the donkey... in any context!

Don't even know why they want him really. Wasn't the 2 major finals in European competitions enough to make them realise how much of a bottler he is?

They owe him. He left them when he did not want to, to save them with that near 100mill sale.

So apparently Martinez from Inter has let it be known he "would love to work for Pochettino at Chelsea".

Has been speculated he is Pochettino first choice forward recruitment.

Not my first choice but if we can swap him for Lukaku then I am more than happy with it.

I'm always wary about signing players from Italy, but I like Martinez. He's very good in tight spaces, which I feel like is a requirement in the Premier League and he's also a lethal finisher. A lot of his game reminds me of Aguero.

His biggest plus is he is not Lukaku lol...

Apparently Inter intend to wait till the end of the window in expectation we crack from having Rom around making a stink and they get a new loan deal where we pay most of his wages.

Could be worse. They could have brought him back after he already left club because he didn't have the stomach to battle Torres for a place (then bottled a battle with Martial at our rivals) and not only that done it on a club record fee with multiple supporters unironically trying to argue it's a good idea and then doubling down blaming service from recent UCL winners after he spits in our faces and struggles to hit double figure touches every match.
