Do you think it would be short sighted to sell Jackson and if not, how much would we get for him? To answer your question - I would, unsurprisingly, take any opportunity to sell Jackson. It feels like his stock is relatively high at the moment - so cash in while we can. For anything we can get - but If we market him right, and stop playing him (so teams don't get to see how bad he is) then i reckon we can turn a profit. Bite their hand off....
November 13, 20241 yr Only way we sell Jackson is if we sign Gyorkeres and Jackson doesn't want to play second fiddle.
November 13, 20241 yr Seems Maresca cares more for his wingers to be able to defend first. Attack second. Nkunku, along with Felix, offer 0 defensive cover. Why they are only used vs Burger King employees from the start. So he should just get it over with and play Gusto right wing, James RB, Cucurella left wing, and Veiga LB.

I do believe "we can turn a profit" is somewhat of a ground shift here Jim. Have you been at the hard stuff? I know its the wrong thread but for me Nico has a role to play at the club. Maybe the Kalou type of role? (This is possibly your best chance at getting yourself off that nasty little hook you seem to be tethered to)

Played on the left, Played on the right, sometimes used up top but never seen as a pure number 9. Nico could very much play that role and be a good back up/sub option to bring on as a Jack of all trades master of none, but like Kalou, should not be a first choice for teams with ambitions to win major trophies.
November 13, 20241 yr Just over a year ago I had a brief chat with one of the club's directors. It wasn't at the club but rather at history festival where he was talking about his recently published book. That's a clue to who it is. During the discussion he mentioned that Nkunku was very much part of Chelsea's plans. Of course things could have changed in the last year. I recall that the director was thrown when I wanted to talk about the club rather just his new book.

He plays in the middle - Well Ice cold is playing there. He plays a more advanced role than that. A support striker. He can play as an outright striker, but that is not his position either. We don't have a spot for him in all honesty. Agreed. Absolute do not sell to United. He played on the left side of a front 3 for Leipzig I think.
November 13, 20241 yr 6 hours ago, Zeta said: Didn't he play a lot of LW before? Exactly. He really blossomed for Leipzig after Werner came to us, by playing a similar role cutting I from the left hand side, playing up front and as a deeper lying second striker. The guy can play anywhere. Give him a decent run of games, treat him like he is an integral part of the side and not just as a closer and he will be one of the best players we have.

I always thought he was more of a second striker (he can of course play anywhere up front) and being a second striker is certainly his preferred position AND we do not play with a second striker in our current system. I like the player and wish we would utilise him more and alternate between him and Jackson more. Maresca is not doing that and I can see why he would want to leave if this continues to be the case. Next summer the wonder kids are arriving from South America and we already have too many players, naturally something has to give. We haven't had the injuries so far this season and it is still too early to say, but Nkunku, Felix and Mudryck [at this point in time] do not seem to be in the long-term plans of Enzo the Elder. Sterling certainly isn't. Edited November 14, 20241 yr by TheCeleryKing typo

He was scoring and assiting pretty much every week last year at RW too so i don't think your argument really works. Nkunku can't take Jackson's place because he isn't a striker. same reason Werner never lead to line for us. Last season showed he could be effective in both positions but this season looks like this: There must be a reason why Nkunku isn't playing AM and Palmer RW, otherwise we would be seeing it every week.

We don't see any of the training apart from the promo vids. All our opinions are based on actual games. It's like the sanchez issue...ppl shouting for Jorgensen but have only seen him in cup games. Against a pl team (newcastle) he was worse than sanchez. Sanchez is a liability imho but unfortunately he's currently better than Jorgensen. *GK position is a whole massive argument/issue but its just an example. We don't see or know any facts about anything that happens behind closed doors/gates at Cobham. Edited November 14, 20241 yr by Simplymo

Managers are stubborn. I imagine its the same season why we keep seeing Gusto in the half space next to Palmer rather than overlapping, which he's actually good at.

Nkunku is decent yet does not lead the line well and is more a number 10 for me, if Utd want him then let them figure out if they drop Bruno to get Nkunku in their starting 11. Amorin supposedly plays with 2 10s. Bruno is their only 10 unless you count Eriksen and Mount if he can stay fit. I would love to see Nkunku and palmer rotating AM and RW/F. 2 intelligent players could create a nice fluid rotation given time to develop it. If Estavao is as good as they say, a front line next season of. Palmer - Nkunku - Estavao Jackson Edited November 14, 20241 yr by DarkMata
November 16, 20241 yr https://www.nationalworld.com/sport/football/fabrizio-romano-manchester-united-transfer-chelsea-christopher-nkunku-4869788 only Chelsea would think about selling their top striker, madness if we do...if he has to go sell him to PSG, i can see him ending up at Tottenham or Arsenal

November 17, 20241 yr Maybe another reason why we don’t see Palmer at RW. Club view that role permanently belonging to Estevao.

It's paez that can play on the left right, out of the 2 new kids? I know they both play on the right mostly but I've seen paez on the left a lot in the vids. I keep getting both of them mixed up! Lol

Lol Kendry Paez plays centrally for his club and country with a lot of freedom. Estevao stays glued to the right wing at Palmeiras, but stated in a lot of interviews that sees himself as a no. 10 and wants to play centrally for Chelsea.
