At least with Kimpenbe you know what you're getting, warts and all.

Ake seems like an idea, a hypothetical great player hidden under all the injuries and sub/bench appearances.

TT said we wanted only top top quality in order to compete. Sterling stats show him in that bracket, Koulibaly certainly is.

Kimpembe and Ake? The latter I don't think is anywhere near it and, as you pointed out, neither is the former.

Maybe if we want top quality we should go all out for skinnar

Just goes to show how lucky we were to have Lamps and the ban.

Otherwise Reece has probably just signed for City via Everton and Mason Pool via Southampton.

Come on now, Mason would never sign for Soton

We’ve already got a top, top defender coming in Koulibaly. Don’t think we need every defender to be of the same quality. Even if Kimpembe is a level below world class, the price isn’t outrageous and Tuchel wants him.

My thoughts exactly !!

I would love Kimpembe and am really glad that we did not buy Ake. I was never convinced by him at Chelsea, first time around, clearly City are convinced either or they wouldn't be entertaining bids and as Sky say that their valuation has not been met, it was obviously too high. He is £30mill tops and apparently City wanted £50m 🤣🤣🤣

Come on, let's get this done! Ake staying at City is music to my years, imagine spending over 150M on Lukaku and Ake, a player who one year later is not even in the squad anymore and another one who would not improve our defence at all and worth 25M tops!

Presko should be the priority right now, not Kounde. Bring him in!

It appears Gallagher has just blown that theory wide open.

I'd absolutely love for us to sign Kimpembe. I think he's a brilliant defender. Aggressive, very quick, right mentality, excellent on the ball and much more.

Known to have a mistake in him but so did Rudiger before Tuchel got to work with him. Kimpembe would almost be a like for like replacement for Rudi if we can land him so i'm all for it.

he's very similar to Rüdiger, as i don't think he has superior insight and intuition like Thiago. But he has the mentality and winning mentality. but i think in a back 3 he will be much better than the back 4 of PSG. I think he would really have a synergetic relationship with Thiago and Koulibaly as he is more into the dark arts of defending and as you mentioned very aggressive and always looking for a fight. Koulibaly and Silva seem to me very calm and composed defenders, Kimpembe could be a great addition to add a bit of a raw edge.

remember this when he injured himself and still managed to stop the counter

Kimpembe to Chelsea. Tuchel knows him. Tuchel Likes him and he is a fast decent defender imho.

We are looking to replace AC, Rudiger and Azpi.  AND, I hate to remind folks of this, we are looking to replace Thiago Silva.  Because Silva cannot go on and on forever . . .or can he?  Just a reminder: Silva is 38 in September.  Silva will be able to contribute this season, but he will need to be rested on occasion.

btw -  Whats happening regarding Ethan Ampadu? We have all been reading about Levi Colwill and his future at the club. But what about Ethan?

posted the exact same vid yesterday too. If we can tame him he's going to be a great addition - and since we have a great team structure I think that's not that far fetched. Especially with Koulibaly and Thiago at the back.

oh didn't see that my bad

I would be a bit worried about his personality but as TT knows him i think it will be a great signing

Chelsea frustrated, but working on Presnel Kimpembe, who Thomas Tuchel has already had a long phone call with. PSG open to a sale but told a lot may come down to convincing Kimpembe, who loves Paris. Jules Kounde not out question either. #CFC haven't walked away from that one.

Sounds ready made for another Lukaku "oh how I love my former side" episode.

Be lovely if Gallagher makes it, but he and anyone else's chance from the youth set up was laid down by Mason and Reece, who got their chance as Lamps trained one and faced the other with Derby and could not sign anyone.

With no ban and another fancy European manager instead of Lamps do you think they give Mase and Reece a chance or spend Roman's riches?

Callum and Ruben fully broke into the team under Sarri before injury, Christensen two years before that under Conte.

But regardless, this is about Tuchel, as annoyed as i'd be if Colwill leaves at worst this is two academy players in two years he's brought into the setup.

None of those 3 made themselves key players or have shown themselves to be top class constantly like Mount and James have done.

We will see if TT continues to develop Trev and establishes Gallagher as a key player.

I can't see this  happening. Apparently he is happy in Paris and PSG is a fair team, albeit one where players go when they want to get paid but not accomplish much.

But I've been wrong before.

Kounde, if fit, and if he can be persuaded that London/cobham is not really that much worse than Barcelona and actually the team will be better, seems like the right answer to me. A natural fit, on paper at least with both Koulibaly and Janes and Sterling if Stirlo plays on the right. That will leave Chiller and Werner bombing down the left with CHO as an alternative to both. That's assuming CHO is fit, which to date, hasn't happened often.

Further talks planned here but a lot of obstacles in this deal.

Unlike Kounde where Sevillas price is the only big issues with Kimpembe it is he is happy at PSG, he is a Paris boy and the new coach has said he will be involved if not always first choice

On top of that we are not interested in PSGs 50mill pounds asking price.

Juve also interested but a bidding war seems unlikely.

So the talks this week are not only on trying to bridge a large gap in valuations (supposedly our interests is around the same price as what we got Koulibaly for) but also TT talking to him again and trying to convince him again to leave Paris...Lukaku mark 2 feelings anyone...

The elite clubs find their targets, go in hard and blow everyone away, then don't look back. If we'd have gone in big on Kimpembe and Kounde from the start there wouldn't have been any of this dithering

That is a criticism we can throw at the last decade or so of Roman's time as owner, but I find it hard to blast the new owners this window.

We started late, had all the government bs to deal with and a boardroom to reshuffle, and Todd is having to do a lot on his own while Roman had people that did the job very well (like Kenyon and Emanalo) and later not so well.

Let's see when we have a director of football and a CEO in place how well we act. I have a feeling we will operated quite well, at least I am hopeful of it

Not true at all. We have so many holes to fix at the club other than just player transfers to worry about.

If we gone big at the start for 2 CBs, we wouldn't be getting good deals on Koulibaly and Sterling. There is also the position of Colwill to consider.
